Recommendation for FTA to approve • ISO/FDIS 15339-1, Graphic technology – Printing from digital dat a across multiple technologies – Part 1: Principles » Due: July 25; FTA filed a ballot for approval • ISO/FDIS 15339-2, Graphic technology – Printing from digital dat a across multiple technologies – Part 2: Characterized reference printing conditions, CRPC1 – CRPC7 » Due: July 25; FTA filed a ballot for approval. Steve Smiley will cross reference lists regarding 15339-2, referring to how the CRPC data sets align to other industry dat a sets. The SWG is interested in having FTA create additional CRPC conditions that relate directly to packaging substrates • ISO/FDIS 12647-5, Graphic technology – Process control for the manu- facture of halftone color separations, proof and production prints – part 5: Screen Printing » Due: Aug. 1; FTA filed a ballot to abstain, as our member do not use screens for 4-color process printing • ISO/DIS 17972-4, Graphic technology – Color data exchange format (CxF/X) – Part 4: Spot color characterization data (CxF/X-4) » Due: Oct. 3; FTA will vote to approve but first requested that Steve Smiley provide a teleconference and expert review session on both CxF documents Currently in Systematic Review No standards currently in review Completed Balloting • ISO 11084-1, Graphic technology – Register systems for photographic materials, foils and paper – Part 1: Three pin systems » Standard was confirmed • ISO 12040, Graphic technology – Prints and printing inks – Assessment of light fastness using filtered xenon arc light » Standard was confirmed • ISO 12218, Graphic technology – Process control – Offset platemaking » Standard was confirmed • ISO 12641, Graphic technology – Prepress digital data exchange – Color targets for input scanner calibration » Standard was confirmed • ISO/SR 12645, Graphic technology – Process control – Certified refer- ence material for opaque area calibration of transmission densitometers » Standard was confirmed • ISO/CIB 12647-7, Graphic technology - Process control for the produc- tion of half tone color separations, proof and production prints - Part 7: Proofing processes working directly from digital data » Standard was approved for a revision • ISO/DIS 14861 Graphic technology – Requirements for color soft proof- ing systems » Standard was approved with a number of comments • ISO/CIB 15341, Graphic technology - Method for Radius Determination of Printing Cylinders » Standard was approved • ISO/DIS 18619, Image technology color management – Black point compensation » Standard was approved • ISO/SR 28178, Graphic technology – Exchange format for color and process control data using XML or ASCII text » Standard was confirmed Currently Under Revision • ISO 13655, Graphic technology — Spectral measurement and colorimet- ric computation for graphic arts images. » The U.S . has the secretariat on the revision of this important standard. A second working draft has been submitted to the committee and is being reviewed • ISO 15311-1, Graphic Technology — Requirements for printed matter for the commercial and industrial production — Part 1: Parameters and measurements measures » This standard was changed to a TS (technical specification) and changes to the text are in progress • ISO 15311-2, Graphic Technology — Requirements for printed matter for the commercial and industrial production — Part 2: Commercial Production Printing • ISO/CIB 12647-7, Graphic technology — Process control for the produc- tion of half tone color separations, proof and production prints — Part 7: Proofing processes working directly from digital data » WG3 has been authorized to prepare a TS and it was reported that a draft is being prepared for ballot before the fall meetings • ISO 15311-3, Graphic Technology — Requirements for printed matter for the commercial and industrial production — Part 3: Large Format Signage Printing » WG3 has been authorized to prepare a TS and it was reported that a draft is being prepared for ballot before the fall meetings • ISO/TS 18621, Graphic Technology - Measurement of visual attributes of printed materials » The following parts have been identified: › Part 11: Method for computing and analyzing color gamut. The proposed document editor is Phil Green › Part 21: M-Score test method for evaluation of macroscopic unifor- mity. The proposed document editor is Andreas Kraushaar › Part 31: L-Score method for perceived resolution evaluation utiliz- ing a contrast resolution target. The proposed document editors are Thomas Liensberger and Eric Z eise It was noted at the meeting that these documents would be TS and not International Standards. Also, a round robin experiment is being planned in which a series of images will be sent to the committee for evaluation by the methods documented in the draft specifications.
