Zol Plastic’s Converting Solutions Tour de México a Success MÉXICO CITY, Mexico—Zol Plastic S.A. de C.V. reports the successful conclusion of its much anticipated 2014 Converting Solutions seminar series during July. According to Javier Zenil, managing director of Zol Plastic, “Record attendance was recorded at each of the day long seminars held in México City, Monterrey and Guadalajara. Flexographic and roto- gravure printers, coaters, laminators and extruders came to learn about new process improving technologies that lower waste, improve quality and productivity, all with a focus on how to gain a competitive advantage.” According to Zenil, presenters included: • Juan Bermudez with Harper Corporation of America, who discussed how anilox specifications impact color consistency, print quality and customer satisfaction • Efrain Martinez, with Flxon Inc., discussed new high performance HD doctor blades developed to reduce dot gain, back doctoring and anilox damage • Kay Avila with Natural Inks focused on managing inks by key nu- meric performance tools to gain efficiencies • Kevin McKell with Vetaphone discussed the importance of corona and plasma treatments to prepare various webs for optimum ink adhesion • John Cusack with QuadTech discussed how true 100 percent defect detection can lower waste while improving both quality and produc- tivity • Mauricio Cobian with Bobst discussed his firms focus on press uptime by reducing job change downtime to just minutes to achieve maximum productivity The seminar’s workshop format allowed for lively discussion of real press- room challenges and concrete solutions. FLXON focused on new blade technology to help eliminate dot gain, back doctoring and reduce anilox damage—especially at press speeds of more than 1,500 fpm.” Brent Moncrief Joins Durst as Vice President, Sales & Marketing ROCHESTER, NY—Brent Moncrief has joined Durst U.S ., the North American sub- sidiary of Durst Phototechnik AG, as its new vice president of sales and marketing, the company announced. Moncrief, whose 30 year career includes creative and marketing positions with Schank Inc., Mundocom/Publicis and Eastman Kodak Co., succeeds Chris Howard, who has been promoted to vice president for business development, responsible for advancing Durst solu- tions in new and growing imaging segments in the region. “The American market is a success story for us, not least thanks to Chris Howard’s excellent work,” said Christoph Gamper, CEO Durst Phototechnik AG. “From now on, Chris will participate in the strategic development of all Durst segments, and will open new opportunities for us in the U.S. market. With Brent, he has a top manager at his side, who has worked for some of the big brands during his long career and who feels at home in the creative world as well as in technical production.” Tee Fallen New Technical Sales Representative at Provident Group BRYAN, OH—The appointment of Tee Fallen as technical sales representative for The Provident Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anderson & Vreeland, Inc. and manufacturer and distributor of doctor blades, end seals and innovative solutions for the printing industry, was announced by Andrew Gillis, general manager for The Provident Group. Fallen will provide technical sales and support, including introducing new and innovative solutions and technologies for Provident customers in the northeastern United States and Cana- da. He brings to his new position substantial pressroom technical and fingerprint experience with flexo and gravure printing having performed press characterizations and supported/super- vised pressruns. “Provident customers will appreciate Tee’s knowledge and expe- rience, in tandem with our leading product lines and innovative solutions for the pressroom,” said Gillis. Fallen is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College with a BA degree in Managerial Economics.
