Please provide a brief history citing significant developments and
product introductions made by your firm and comment on their
impact to flexo.
A&V: A&V introduced
plate processing systems
that address environ-
mental and ecological
concerns long before
being “green” was in
vogue. A&V introduced
featuring a special vapor
evacuation system, ex-
haust fans and automatic
plate input and take off to
prevent operator exposure
to fumes. A&V then
introduced Poly-Safe, a
non toxic, biodegradable
and environmentally safe
washout alternative to foul smelling perc/butyl, and pioneered the use
of ultraviolet light to detack photopolymer plates.
In the 1990s, Anderson & Vreeland introduced Cosmolight, the
world’s first water wash flexo plate from Toyobo. A&V then intro-
duced the equipment required to process water wash flexo plates,
reducing the industry’s reliance on solvent wash plates.
In 2002, A&V introduced the first complete laser imaged computer
to plate (CTP) system (FlexoLaser) for water wash flexo plates. At the
same time, the company introduced digital Cosmolight plates from
Toyobo for CTP systems. In 2003, A&V began selling FulFlex laser
engraving materials, including Laserflex plates and sleeves.
A&V continually searches for new technologies to improve flexo print
quality and efficiency. n
