“To bring to F TA’s
membership and to
others interested in
to keep everyone in
our field posted on
and to bring to the
an authoritative voice
which speaks officially for and essentially to
flexographers, the Foundation of Flexographic
Technical Association is publishing the
Flexographic Technical Journal, of which this is
the first issue.”
With those words, written 40 years ago by then
Publishing Director and future FTA Hall of Fame
member Alexander R. Bradie, FLEXO Magazine,
née the Flexographic Technical Journal, was born.
In the decades since then, the magazine has
covered every flexography related topic under
the sun, assisted in the education of countless
trade practitioners, served as the venue for
groundbreaking technical articles and tripled its
publication frequency—“The current plan is to
bring out four quarterly issues in 1976,” Bradie
wrote then—all in the pursuit of that mission
statement of sorts. Holding the title of most
appreciated benefit of FTA membership, it would
appear the magazine is not far off in that goal.
This issue marks the beginning of the celebration
of FLEXO’s 40th Anniversary. Throughout the
year, the magazine will highlight selections from
its archives, while continuing to deliver the state
of flexography today and its outlook tomorrow.
