Thayer Long Joins
NPES as President
RESTON, VA—NPES Chairman of the
Board Mal Baboyian announced that Thay-
er Long will serve as the next president
of NPES-The Association for Suppliers
of Printing, Publishing and Converting
Technologies. He succeeds Ralph Nappi,
who has led NPES for the last 11 years and
announced his retirement at the Octo-
ber 2015 board of directors meeting. In
addition to leading NPES and Graphic Arts
Show Company (GASC), Thayer will also
serve as president of the Graphic Arts Edu-
cation and Research Foundation (GAERF).
Thayer has nearly 20 years of association
experience, serving most recently as EVP
and CEO of the Independent Electrical
Contractors, and prior to that as president
and CEO of the Manufactured Housing
Institute. Both organizations are headquar-
tered in the Washington, D.C . metro area.
Thayer began his roles on April 28. Ralph
has agreed to continue in a transitionary
capacity through the end of July.
Bill DeWall Joins GMG Americas
as North Central Region Director of Sales
HINGHAM, MA—GMG announced it has appointed Bill DeWall
director of sales, north central region, GMG Americas, representing
GMG color management solutions to all companies in the area. Bill will
be responsible for developing sales activities, working both directly with
customers and with GMG dealers.
Bill joins GMG from Agfa Graphics where, for the past 15 years, he
managed a top producing five state territory for the nation’s largest
graphic arts dealer. Most recently, he focused on Agfa’s wide format UV
line of printers and finishing solutions.
Bill has also served as digital prepress manager at Marathon Communications, overseeing
staff at a commercial printer. While there, he made the recommendations to invest the soft-
ware and capital equipment to transition the department to a complete digital operation.
Epson America’s John Lang to Retire, Keith
Kratzberg to Take Over as President & CEO
LONG BEACH, CA—Epson America, Inc. announced John Lang, president and CEO, will
retire effective June 30. As part of a planned succession, Keith Kratzberg, currently senior
vice president, will assume the role of president and chief executive officer as of July 1.
John joined Epson America in 1987 and has served as president and CEO for the past 14
years. In this role, he has been the driving force behind the company’s strategic direction
and consistently strong operational performance. He led the company through a period of
unprecedented change in technology, markets and customers.
John was also instrumental in dramatically expanding Epson’s strategic focus from a con-
sumer and small business printer manufacturer to a market leader in businesses as diverse as
robotics, textile printing, augmented reality display technology and point of sale solutions.
Keith joined Epson in 1996 and has held positions of increasing responsibility in product de-
velopment, marketing, sales, strategy and general management. Since 2011, he has held the
position of senior vice president, sales and marketing, most recently successfully expanding
his management and oversight to the Latin America region of Epson America.
Richard Jackson Joins MPS Systems
North America as Area Sales Manager
GREEN BAY, WI—MPS Systems North America, Inc. (MPS) has hired Richard Jackson as
area sales manager, covering the southern region of the U.S . Richard joins the growing MPS
Systems North America organization with more than 30 years of
experience in the printing industry. His past experiences in pro-
duction, parts, installation and capital equipment sales lend well
to the role of assisting customers in the southern U.S . with any of
their printing or converting machine needs.
Richard’s hire enhances MPS’ expansion of its North Ameri-
can organization including local press production, a local press
demonstration center, and sales and service. Today, MPS Systems
North America has established service offerings including spare
parts programs and U.S. based technical assistance.
