Group announced the acquisition of Action
Packaging Systems, Inc.
Action Packaging Systems, Inc., with
locations in Ellington, CT and High Point,
NC, provides pressure sensitive prime, pro-
motional and thermal labels to customers
across the country. It will operate under the
Fortis Solutions Group name.
Fortis President and CEO John O. Wynne,
Jr. stated, “We are thrilled to acquire a

Systems, Inc. Doug and his team have done
an outstanding job delivering industry
leading customer service using their ‘Five
Days and Out’ mantra. We look forward

add the Gold Seal label applicator product

Employing 340 employees across seven
sites, the company intends to continue its
pursuit of attractive acquisitions to further
the breadth of product offerings and loca-
tions which can serve its customer base.
Avery Dennison to Acquire Hanita Coatings
GLENDALE, CA—Avery Dennison Corp. announced it has agreed to acquire Hanita
Coatings, a pressure sensitive materials manufacturer of specialty films and laminates, from
Kibbutz Hanita Coatings and Tene Investment Funds for $75 million, subject to customary
Headquartered in Israel with sales and distribution facilities in the U.S ., Germany, China
and Australia, Hanita Coatings develops and manufactures coated, laminated and metallized
polyester films for a range of industrial and commercial applications, all of which require
high performance and superior quality. Hanita Coatings’ window films are used in architec-
ture and automotive aftermarkets; its top coated polyester films are used in the manufacture
of durable labels; and its ultra high barrier films form part of insulation systems used in
refrigeration, buildings and cold chain packaging.
With 2015 sales of roughly $50 million, Hanita Coatings currently employs more than 220
employees, most of whom are located at the company’s headquarters in Israel’s Western
Galilee. The 33 year old company generates sales in more than 40 countries.
DataLase Acquired by SATO
TOKYO, Japan—SATO, a leading global provider of Auto
ID solutions that empower workforces and streamlines op-
erations, acquired a 100 percent share of U.K . based inline
digital printing (IDP) leader DataLase. The two companies
first teamed in October 2015 to form the strategic partner-
ship SpeciaLase to introduce the game changing DataLase
IDP technology in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region.
SATO held a 33.3 percent share of DataLase prior to this acquisition.
The acquisition optimizes synergies from the DataLase IDP solution and SATO’s on site
commitment and global network to deliver financial savings, environmental benefits and
enhanced marketing capabilities for end users. Application in total track and trace solutions
is expected to provide benefits for customers in numerous high volume, fast moving indus-
tries including manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceuticals, and food and beverage.
Sonoco Acquires Plastic Packaging Inc.
HARTSVILLE, SC—Sonoco, one of the largest diversified global packaging companies, has
acquired Plastic Packaging Inc. (PPI), a privately held Hickory, NC based flexible packaging
Founded in 1957, PPI specializes in short run, customized flexible packaging for consumer
brands in markets including:
• Food products (i.e. frozen foods, baked goods, seafood)
• Pet products (i.e. dry food, bird seed, litter)
• Confection (i.e. seasonal promotions, heat sealed chocolate packaging, hard/soft candy)
• Health and personal care (i.e . nutraceuticals, diapers, tissues/wipes)
PPI expects 2016 sales of approximately $42 million and operates two manufacturing facili-
ties in Hickory, NC and Forest City, NC, with approximately 170 employees.
Through the acquisition, Sonoco gains additional lamination, wide and narrow web flexog-
raphic printing, and pouch and bag forming capabilities that will allow it to better serve its
current customers, while expanding its customer base.
