Liberty Marking Systems
Installs Second Nilpeter
CINCINNATI, OH—Liberty Mark-
ing Systems of Cincinnati, OH recently
installed its second Nilpeter flexo press, an
FB-3300S, just 18 months after purchasing
its first FB-3300.
Established in 1988, Liberty Marking
Systems is a privately owned company
specializing in custom labels and innova-
tive solutions for all labeling needs, Liberty
Marking Systems has earned a reputation
as a “company you can count on,” with
customers and partners around the labeling
“After breaking ground on our 8,000 sq. ft.
warehouse expansion in May, we decided
it was as good a time as any to add another
press to our lineup,” said Brian Beam, VP
of Liberty Marking Systems. “Nilpeter is
an industry leader, which we experienced
firsthand less than two years ago when we
purchased our first FB-3300, and we didn’t
hesitate in bringing them back in as we
considered adding an 8-color FB-3300S.”
“We are very proud to be selected as the
supplier of choice for Liberty Marking
Systems. Our partnership continues to
strengthen with their growth. The instal-
lation of the two FB-3300 presses will pro-
vide long term stability for their production
operation. The FB-Line presses are real
workhorses, and we have surpassed 1,000
installations worldwide—a testament to
their ability. This is indeed a perfect fit for
Liberty Marking Systems’ growth and pro-
duction needs,” said Tom Strunk, midwest
regional sales engineer, Nilpeter USA.
ALTANA to Acquire Landa Metallography Technology

drupa printing exhibition in June 2016, this novel technology for
producing metallized graphics is a sustainable alternative to foil
transfer processes, enabling metallization graphics at up to half
the cost of conventional foil stamping. Through the acquisition,
Landa will progressively transfer the remaining development and
engineering work to ALTANA’s ACTEGA Coatings & Sealants
division, who will be bringing the metallography technology to
market in the coming years.
“We are excited about this acquisition, which opens up new
growth opportunities for ALTANA and strengthens our position
as a leading solution provider for the printing industry,” stated
Martin Babilas, CEO of ALTANA.
Prairie State Group Scores 100 Percent on SQF Audit
for Second Year in a Row
FRANKLIN PARK, IL—For the second year in a row, FTA member Prairie State Group
earned a 100 percent score on a surprise Safe Quality Foods (SQF) audit. This marks the
second year in a row PSG has aced the audit.
“Besides the necessary documentation, trends and analysis we continue to improve upon,
the reason we were able to achieve a perfect score two years in a row is due to the fact every
employee at PSG buys into the program,” commented Charlie Foca, quality assurance tech-
nician and SQF practitioner. “Our success is a total team effort!” Charlie recalled a pre audit
meeting where employees discussed how lofty—but attainable—a goal the back to back per-
fect scores would be. “Knowing what we know about food safety, the training PSG provides,
etc., anything less than 100 percent is viewed as a disappointment,” he said.
In addition, Charlie was one of three finalists for the SQF practitioner of the year award. The
award is given to an individual who “has demonstrated accomplishments in driving contin-
uous growth and has taken their facility or company above and beyond the SQF program,”
according to the SQF.
