FLEXO Magazine : February 2009
tion should re-vitalize us all and prove inspirational in recognizing threats, op- portunities and business practices that will lead us into the future. When we started planning, we said to ourselves, "We just finished celebrating the 50th anniversary of FTA! Now what?" Questions on the table at Forum will include: · How do we move flexo into the future-a future that is starting with some challenging economic times? . How do we bring bright young people intofback into our industry to con- tinue to develop it as a quality and economic print process for packaging? . How do we accurately and consis- tently communicate all the new ideas and technologies back to our facilities to keep growing? Three "tenets" seem logical to focus on for 2009. They are: 1. Innovate. Bring about technical advancements. 2. Educate. Explore ideas and inspire young folks to enter our industry. 3. Communicate. Transfer knowl- edge and continue to grow our marketshare. We took a great deal of time reviewing how the Forum could support our ideals. We added new sessions, incorporated the Phoenix Challenge, created the Education Pavilion, and focused the keynote on how we as an industry are going to move ahead in 2009. The agenda tries to pack as much activity and value into the days of the Forum as possible. Each participant has the opportunity to see education in action, attend committee meetings and become involved with the FTA. He/she can choose from a large vari- ety of sessions and presentations to learn about what is going on in our industry, attend INFO*FLEX, and get prepared to share all of this new information with their plants upon return. By taking advantage of several networking opportunities with students, suppliers, FTA members and staff, attendees will be able to develop and foster the human resources of our industry. Q . How has your experience as Forum . co-chairs been? At this stage in the process, what message do you have for the session chairs?
