Home Living : March 17th 2009
HLF - Publication, Tuesday, March 17, 2009 7 Brush up on colours Choosing a new colour scheme for your home's interior can be challenging but there are ways to make colour choice easier. Begin by selecting paint from a manufacturer of top-quality, 100 per cent acrylic paints. Why? They offer a wider selection of colours and use advanced technology to ensure the paint covers well, maintains its colour and lasts longer. Choosing a colour is personal decision. If you like blue, chances are you will find a place for it and that's what gives your home its personality. Choosing colours that complement rather than compete with existing furniture and furnishings can help make colour choice easier. One of the good things about some paint manufacturers is their support in helping you choose the right colours in the privacy of your own home. For example, you can take home colour cards that show what combinations work well on walls, feature walls and trims. There are computer-based programs that enable you to visualise your ideas more clearly with a simulated image of the area you wish to paint. Before making a final decision, buy sample pots and paint patches on the wall -- this gives an idea of how the colours will look. Leave them on your walls for a few days to see how they are affected by different lighting conditions. You'll be surprised at how different colours look at different times of day and night.
