Cott Appoints .Jerry Fowden Chief Executive Soft drink maker and FTA member Cott Corp. named Jerry Fowden as its new chief executive. Fowden joined Cott in 2007 to lead the company's UK business before taking over as president of its in- ternational operation. Before joining Cott, Fowden was CEO of Trader Media Group, a subsidiary of Guardian Media Group PLC in the UK. He replaces interim CEO David Gibbons, who abruptly replaced Brent Willis in March 2008 as the com- pany's fourth chief executive in five years. Flint Group Re-organizes Flint Group announced a new customer- oriented organizational structure, which takes place immediately. This will align the organization to market segments and cus- tomer applications enabling Flint Group to provide significant advantages to our customers through exceptional value, con- sistent quality and continuous innovation whilst delivering enhanced benefits on a communication, technical expertise, ser- vice and support level at a lower cost. Charles Knott, CEO of Flint Group, stat- ed, "We want to make doing business with us easier and more efficient for our cus- tomers by offering a main contact person at Flint Group to cover the total range of products and services for their business." PRIMIR 2009 Research to focus on Flexo and Packaging The Print Industries Market Information and Research Organization (PRIMIR) recently announced new re- search studies underway for 2009 that focus on flexography and packaging. Benchmarking and Worldwide Market Trends for Flexographic Printing is a world- wide study that will benchmark 2007 and provide drivers for change in flexographic printing through 2012 by region. The study will investigate trends in flexographic print- ing and will cover newspapers, packaging, tags and labels, envelopes, folding cartons, corrugated, flexible film and foil. It will pro- vide data on the number of presses in use by width and market segment, run lengths by application, makeready, number of col- ors/coatings, and benchmark related con- sumables in flexo printing. It will evaluate trends from the packaging marketplace and provide a forecast of this market segment through 2012. LPC Consultants will com- plete this study for a late fall 2009 release. Global Trends in Packaging Affecting North American Converter and Supplier Markets will identify global packaging trends that impact the North American converter and supplier markets. It will showcase drivers and barriers and de- mographic, environmental, or regulatory issues influencing the printing process, package preference and the point of origin. The study will specifically delve into labels, folding cartons, corrugated, flexible and re- tort pouch packaging and specific substrate and coating requirements. The study will also evaluate food versus other packaged goods and identify the package specifiers' future needs. The research is underway with State Street Consultants and will be completed in late summer 2009.
