FLEXO Magazine : April 2009
FTA TODAY Q: What do you think of the progress made by the Leadership Councils so far? Collins: I think the Leadership Councils have been a great addition for the membership as a whole. The focus of the SPI is to make the FTA a more meaningful and responsive organiza- tion to the membership. During the past year the Leadership Councils have conducted several surveys to get the pulse of their market segment to identify their needs. This is helped to plan for changes in FTA services or defi ne how we can strengthen existing services. Several councils have also been involved in joint projects looking at ways of streamlining press characterizations and de- veloping additional tools for designers who are not familiar with fl exography. The focus of these projects is to save both time and money for the membership (see page 10). Q: How do the surveys factor into the SPI agenda? Collins: We’ve done quite a few of those. We did an enve- lope survey that just went out, and a newspaper survey that was recently completed. A supplier survey is being completed. And there have been a number of SPI surveys at Forum. The purpose is to get information on the wishes and needs of members and incorporate those into the active programs and policies of FTA. The survey allows everyone a chance to put his or her two cents in, with little time invested from anyone. It allows FTA to better understand where the markets stand, what the markets are inter- ested in or what the markets are not interested in. We have a new survey developed for Forum 2009 that provides all attendees another opportunity to have their voice heard and help shape the future of the FTA. This survey will focus on what content and programs are most valued and which ones do not service to- day’s needs as well as they once did. We are working to make ev- eryone’s participation in this survey as easy as possible by having it available electronically on-line and at the FTA’s booth at INFO*FLEX and with paper copies for the those still digitally challenged. ¦ ATTENTION, FTA MEMBERS You are Invited To The SPI Luncheon at FFTA Forum 2009 Coronado Springs Resort, Lake Buena Vista, FL Date: Monday, May 4 Time: 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Room: Coronado A-H
