The narrow web press features seven printing stations that can be configured with rotary screen, flexography or gravure with a variety of solventbased, water-based and UV curable ink systems. The press platform can handle polymer substrates as thin as 12 microns, or paperboard materials as heavy as 600 microns, while achieving high-end registration through a complete servo controlled system. “We are pleased to be part of this groundbreaking research,” stated Marco Calcagni, sales director at Omet. “Clemson is a worthy partner and we are extremely pleased that our VaryFlex press can further the knowledge in this emerging field.” GETTING PERSONNEL Harper Corporation of America— Andre Jochheim is a new team member at Harper Graphics GmbH, the company’s licensed affiliate in Germany. In his new position, Jochheim will visit Harper Graphics customers onsite to offer technical solutions for a variety of printing challenges. Gerhardt USA—John LoGiudice was appointed as central U.S. technical sales consultant. LoGiudice started his flexo career in 1983. Working in all aspects of production, prepress and flexo management, including his involvement in the testing and development of LoGiudice Luft many of today’s photopolymer materials. Eric Smith was named northern technical sales consultant. He has been in the flexible packaging industry for more than 11 years now, primarily narrow web labels. In addi- Smith tion, Alexis Cruz is the new Mexico/Central America technical sales consultant. Cruz has 10 years experience in the direct mail industry, with expertise in process improvement. McDowell Label—John McDow- Cruz ell has been named president of the company. McDowell has served as vice president of sales since 2006 and as so has led the company to increased heights in both sales and new product development. He succeeds his McDowell father, Dave McDowell, the company’s founder and current chairman of the board. Jay A. Luft was also promoted to vice president. Luft has served as the company’s operations manager since 2006. Under his leadership, the company has increased its manufac- turing efficiencies and achieved international acclaim for printing excellence. In addition, Phil Norris was named sales manager. Norris, a career veteran of the industry has served in roles from sales to general management, and is well suited to continue the company’s growth in sales. Norris Pitman Co.—Anthony P. Crupi, Sr. was appointed to the firm’s board of directors. Crupi is presently the chairman, president and CEO of Latran Technologies, as well as partner and managing director of Andlinger and Co. Inc., a private equity investment banking firm in Tarrytown, NY. Rogers Corp.—Antonio Zecca has been hired for the position of sales engineer for printing products in Europe. Technicote Inc.—Ralph Adkins joined Technicote as national sales manager. Teas tape—Chris Ferrelli was named sales specialist for the Northeastern region of the U.S. Ferrelli will be responsible for industrial markets throughout Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Ferrelli Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia.
