Home Living : July 7th 2009
8 HLF - HOME LIVING: NORTH WEST, Tuesday, July 7, 2009 NEW SOLAR BUY-BACK WORTH THOUSANDS! Investing in a solar electricity system just became up to four times more lucrative for both homes and businesses, thanks to a new announcement by the NSW Government. Anyone with a solar electricity system will be paid four times the retail rate for the excess electricity they do not use immediately and feed into the grid. The new "feed in tariff" of 60 cents per kilowatt hour will start from January 1st 2010. "This means an energy efficient home could save $1000 per year or more on their electricity bill if they installed a 1.5kW system." Said Adam Tesoriero, Director of SolarSwitch. On top of this buy-back scheme there is a new solar electricity rebate that is not means tested and is open to everyone, including businesses. The new cash incentive will be based on a multiplier of the "Renewable Energy Certificates" or "RECs" where anything up to a 1.5kW solar electricity system will now be worth five times the certificates that were previously allocated. While the Renewable Energy Certificates fluctuate in value, SolarSwitch is prepared to guarantee the RECs rebate as an upfront discount at their current high values. Small businesses can also take advantage of a further incentive until the end of this year with the Federal Government offering a bonus 50% tax deduction for those investing in solar power. This can bring the payback period to less than 5 years, after which the company makes a profit of thousands of dollars per year for the next 20 years under warranty. SolarSwitch make it easy for homeowners and businesses to switch to solar power by offering very personalised service with a free home or building assessment. In the last year more than 4500 solar electricity systems were installed in NSW under the old Solar Homes and Communities Program. SolarSwitch is proud to have successfully installed almost 20% of these systems. "On a product that carries a 25 year manufacturer's warranty installing quality equipment sourced from reputable manufacturers, that will be around to honor your guarantee, is very important.....we pride ourselves on that" Said Adam Tesoriero, Director of SolarSwitch. SolarSwitch offer the highest quality monocrystalline solar panels and German inverters that are the most efficient and widely used in the world. Each installation is managed and carried out by SolarSwitch's licensed, insured and Business Council of Sustainable Energy accredited electricians. There are also solar hot water rebates available. The federal government is offering $1600 and the state government is offering up to $1200 for those replacing an electric hot water system. Solar hot water can generate as much as 90% of a household's hot water needs free from the sun. An electric booster kicks in whenever there is a shortfall. NSW electricity prices continue to skyrocket with another 21% increase confirmed for this month. "So with the new solar buy-back scheme and all the rebates available there's never been a better time to install solar and protect yourself against rising energy costs."
