Mr Hallett says there is also a trend for smart homebuyers to have pre- purchase inspections as a condition on settling a sale. ''Having a professional property report which details the faults in a home, the cost of repairs and the potential for renovation, is a powerful negotiation weapon and can be used by homebuyers having the price reduced on properties to cover repair costs.''
