tyre test (see Issue 88) show you can
be confident Cooper tyres will give
you the most puncture resistance,
and demonstrates the strength and quality of
premium American-made tyres.
For the first time ever in Australia, 4WD
Monthly tested 14 of the leading brands of
All-Terrain tyres under controlled conditions
to find each tyre’s ability to resist tread
punctures. The Cooper was found to be the
most puncture resistant.
THE STRENGTH TEST
tested each tyre
using a plunger
energy test. All
tyres were inflated
to 51psi and a
steel plunger was
pushed at constant speed into the top of the
tread block. The distance the plunger moved
from its first contact with the tread until it
punctured the tyre was recorded (this shows
the flexibility of the tyre), as was the force
required to puncture the tyre.
Cooper produces exclusively for the
aftermarket so they do not compromise on
quality or performance to meet a price or
the criteria of a vehicle manufacturer, which
means you get more for your money.
That means Cooper can use wider and
stronger steel belts inside the tyre to give the
tyres extra strength and that enables Cooper
to produce deeper tread tyres. For you, this
means Cooper tyres give you more grip,
more resistance to punctures and damage,
less tread squirm and more mileage.

Cooper tyres give you up to 30.3% more
overall tread depth with shoulder grooves
that are up to 46.3% deeper than many tyres
that come factory-fitted with new vehicles.
EQUAL STRENGTH IN
EVERY COOPER PATTERN
Of the three All-Terrain tyres available in the
Cooper range, the ST-C cut and chip resistant
tyre featured in 4WD Monthly’s test, which
tested only one tyre from each manufacturer.
But, with Cooper’s ATR and Sure Trac (ST)
available in the same light truck construction,
you can choose the right Cooper for your type
of driving and know they are as strong and
resistant to punctures.
(Coopers are available in passenger and light truck constructions.
All tyres in 4WD Monthly’s test were 265/75R16 size in light truck
construction. Passenger construction tyres are not as strong).
EVEN STRONGER COOPER
Cooper took the 2-ply construction used
in their tyres, that 4WD Monthly’s test has
shown to be the most puncture resistant, to
produce an even stronger, more puncture

Cooper added an extra third ply
at an 8 degree angle that Cooper’s
testing has shown is 33% stronger
in the sidewalls and 2.5 times more
resistant to tearing than the Cooper
tested by 4WD Monthly. This carcass
construction is called Armor-Tek3
and it’s unique to Cooper.
4WD Monthly tested 14 leading brands of All-Terrain
tyres for their ability to resist tread punctures and
found Cooper to be the most puncture resistant.
