Hello Twenty-Ten! With a year for the record books finally winding down---good riddance!--- what better time to reflect not so much on the past year, but rather on how we can take the experience that we all have endured during the rough economic and business conditions and turn them into an opportunity to create something positive. I know...I know...it sounds very idealistic I'll grant you, but we need to remember that "those who cannot learn from the past are doomed to repeat it." (I wish Wall Street would live by this adage!) As we approach 2010, the FTA management team has begun seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with some definite positive indications being expressed by our members. We've done our very best to ride out the storm, making and implement- ing the difficult decisions that will reshape the organization to be better prepared to serve the FTA membership as the industry and technology continue to advance. Quite a few measures have been implemented over the past year that collectively make FTA a more efficient, member-focused Association. Our governing leader- ship, management group and volunteer base are confident of that fact. I'll close out the year with an inspiring passage from a very good friend, FTA Hall of Fame member Ron Harper. Ever the optimist, Ron has had a tremendous impact on a number of people over the years---yours truly included---and his "Twenty-two Ways to Live a Happier Life" certainly capture the sentiments that I'd like to leave you with. On behalf of the entire FTA team, best wishes for a very happy, healthy and peaceful holiday season! Thoughts To Live By TWENTY-TWO WAYS TO LIVE A HAPPIER LIFE 1. Be kind to others. 2. Know that you can build a better mousetrap, but you must also be skillful in telling the world about it. Learn to "market" your ideas.
