On the morning of March 16, attendees can join the Re- source Safari. Each exhibitor is given a few minutes to pres- ent information to the group about their product or services. It's a great way to hear from the exhibitors and then be able to follow-up during the breaks and receptions. NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES NEHS attendees will have plenty of opportunities to meet and greet key business contacts during the NEHS Confer- ence. With the Awards Luncheon (where the FTA Environmen- tal Excellence Award recipients are announced), Resource Safari, Conference Resource Center, roundtable discussions, receptions and specialty created breaks, there is ample time to collect business cards and build relationships. PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS In addition to the packed conference agenda, there are five informative pre-conference workshops. These four-hour hands-on programs are very well attended and are offered for an additional fee. Don't wait to register for these as space is limited. • Calculating Your Carbon Footprint and Other Metrics- Metrics are key to understanding your facility 's baseline and to setting goals and objectives. This workshop pro- vides a hands-on approach to calculating your carbon footprint as well as other key environmental and safety metrics for your facility. Bring your calculator! This ses- sion is for all levels. • Developing Your Sustainability Management System-A management system provides the framework for organiz- ing your facility's operations that relate to environmen- tal, safety and sustainability initiatives. This workshop provides you with a hands-on, step-by-step approach for identification of elements and a road map to forming a cohesive management system. Insights into how to identify, develop and achieve established targets and ob- jectives, set as part of your company 's continual improve- ment activities, will be offered. • The New Changes to an Old Standard --- An OSHA Recordkeeping Update-OSHA has increased inspec- tions of printers dramatically in the last few years, due to specific National Emphasis Programs (NEP). The latest OSHA NEP is on recordkeeping. One of the first things an inspector will ask for is your records. Are you prepared? Printers need to review their OSHA recordkeeping logs, forms, and practices and see to it that these records are accurate and in order. This program will explain the focus of the recordkeeping NEP, explain the recordkeep- ing requirements, how to use the correct OSHA logs and forms, demonstrate how to calculate injury and illness rates and how to evaluate your safety programs for ef- fectiveness. • Development of In-House EHS Compliance Programs- This workshop focuses on the development of a formal written plan that can be used for determining compliance with environmental, safety and health requirements. It includes how to recognize and implement compliance changes; and daily, monthly and annual milestones that need to be met to ensure compliance on a con- tinual basis. Procedural and necessary documentation requirements will also be covered. This workshop is recommended for everyone, not just those facilities seek- ing certification under the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership Program. • Recruiting, Selection and Hiring: Getting it Right the First Time - Do you want to increase your chances of making a great hire, not just a good one? Find out through a step-by-step process from the beginning to end. This includes the decision to hire, the correct posi- tion to hire, recruitment sources, internal candidates, interviewing, testing, selection, offer, and orientation (and all within budget). REGISTRATION Register for the NEHS Conference by Feb. 28, 2010, and save $100 off the registration fee. A second attendee from the same location can register for half off the regular rate!
