Holidays Away : Easter Edition 2007
HOLIDAYS AWAY including SYDNEYSIDER Easter Edition 2007 3 www.holidaysaway.net CHINESE NEW YEAR Chinese New Year is the largest event on Star City's calendar, and to mark the importance, Star City is the City of Sydney's major sponsor for the event. This year, Chinese New Year was celebrated in magnificent style, with authentic Chinese colour, song and flavour, helping Star City welcome in the Year of the Pig. Together with traditional Chinese entertainment, pageantry, music and variety shows every night and vibrant red and gold decorations throughout the entire complex, Star City was transformed into a mystical, traditional Chinese setting. V8 SUPERCARS SEASON LAUNCH A change of pace and setting, and Star City's Showroom was transformed into the perfect starting blocks for the 2007 season launch of the V8 Supercars. An exclusive cocktail party was held and an exciting stage show was produced to mark the launch. V8 Supercars' media partner, Channel Seven, invited a whole host of its stars, who rubbed shoulders with the V8 Supercar drivers, including Craig Lowndes, Rick Kelly and Mark Skaiffe. An array of Channel Seven personalities were present but perhaps the real stars of the show were the cars themselves, which rose from beneath the stage in a 'cloud' of ice. A series of impressive visuals also helped give this night a racy theme. 50 YEARS OF TV To celebrate 50 Years of Television, Seven threw the biggest party of the year, and quite possibly Sydney's biggest social event for 2006, and when it came to choosing a venue they looked no further than Star City. With red carpet arrivals and all the trimmings including an exclusive menu created by Astral Restaurant's head chef and 2006 AHA Chef of the Year, Sean Connolly, the night was only ever going to be impressive. Guests were treated to a three- course dinner menu that featured delicacies such as imported French morel mushrooms that sell for over $800/kg. Guests also enjoyed lobster for main course with over 100kg of fresh lobster being flown in from Tasmania for the event. But you do not have to be a 'star' to host an event at Star City. Star City caters for all tastes and budgets with over ten function spaces including the aptly named Grand Harbour Ballroom, which boasts sweeping views of Sydney Harbour, the Harbour Bridge and city skyscape. No other ballroom in Sydney can lay claim to having such views. You are not restricted to holding your event in a function room though. Star City is also home to 23 restaurants and bars, which can cater for small, medium or large events.
