FLEXO Magazine : August 2010
Industry Indicators ing the plate off the cylinder, the new Bunting Spiral Cylinder will release the plate smoothly and avoid any costly kinking of the die. This contrasts to other regular cylinders which typically have a dead zone that can cause a die to snap and crease. With the new Spiral Cylinder, even short dies that are not full wrap will always land on a magnetic field. These cylinders are built to the same exacting tolerances as our X-treme cylinders. That means they will provide a total run out accuracy below 40 millionths of an inch (1 micron). Bunting uses powerful magnets which lock dies in place, so that they do not lift or shift. Our X-treme cylinders significantly increase die life, reduce false starts and make clean cuts even on 1-mil stock with less than 1-mil liners, on no-look labels and on synthetics. DIP Co. to Show New ADDItIoNS No. 1408 DIP Co. will show a variety of new products at Labelexpo Americas at Booth 1408, including a quick change liner and retainer system developed for Nilpeter’s two newest presses, the FG 3300 and FG 4200. Other recent product launches include a liner and retainer system for an Aquaflex Producer- 24in., Aquaflex DBX-13in., Omega Digicom Series 2 and Omet Varyflex 520 press. The company has also designed a low volume liner system for the Webtron 1618 press. DIP Co. has developed a new foam wiper for the Mark Andy XP presses. This wiper is 0.2 inches narrower than the company ’s wiper offered for the Mark Andy LP press series. DIP also offers two wipers for the Aquaflex ELS press series. FlINt GrouP ShowCASeS New teChNoloGy No. 840 New innovations for label and narrow web printing on display include: • Thin plate technology for a more sustainable workflow • rotec® Label Sleeve with superior dimensional stability • Flexocure FORCE – the latest in UV Flexo technology • Cast & Cure Coatings – UV coatings specifically de- signed for the Cast & Cure process With one-stop shopping for the latest technology in high performance printing plates, sleeves/adapters and inks, Flint Group will showcase the latest technology for label and narrow web printers. Flint Group Flexographic Products will introduce the more eco-efficient, thin plate technology with the nyloflex FAB 030 Digital printing plates, which shows its strengths specifically in narrow web printing. The thinner plates offer a myriad of benefits including reduced energy consumption and waste, lower dot gain, less distortion and cupping of plates and faster processing speeds with in- creased consistency. The nyloflex FAB plates offer outstand- ing resistance to UV inks and enhanced flexibility to wrap around small diameter printing cylinders. In addition to printing plates, Flint Group Flexographic Products will showcase the rotec Label Sleeve, developed specifically for narrow web printing with increased dimen- sional stability and excellent edge stability. The highly durable sleeve exhibits excellent concentricity under various temperature/humidity conditions and performs well with virtu- ally all plate/tape thicknesses. All types of adapters can be used with the rotec Label Sleeve. By understanding the full potential of the various narrow web print techniques, Flint Group Narrow Web brings con- verters optimal combinations to create the most eye-catching and value added label possible. Flint Group Narrow Web will show the latest technologies—including some new, very in- teresting, products, some of which are still going through the final finetuning R&D phase and, therefore, will be launched at the show. The recent introduction of Flexocure FORCE, our latest introduction in UV Flexo technology, along with Flint Group’s various coatings for the Cast & Cure process can only give a flavor of how Flint Group can provide true value- added ideas for our customers. GSe DISPeNSING to Show AutomAteD INk SyStemS No. 3004 At Labelexpo Americas booth 3004, GSE Dispensing will display its ink dispensing products. Automated ink logistics are not only environment friendly, they help reduce running costs by up to 30 percent, while delivering higher print quality and productivity. The company offers a wide range of modular gravimetric ink dispensing systems, tailored to the individual needs of the flexo and gravure printer. Among them is the Colorsat Match dispenser for label printing, which has been installed at more than 45 label converters worldwide. The system enables clean and waste-free recipe preparation in batches of 1kg to 5kg. Firstly, the systems reduce ink usage by dispensing exactly what is needed for each job. They calculate the volume re- quirements for the most challenging spot recipes, and dispens- es batch to an accuracy of one gram, in less than four minutes. Secondly, any excess ink that does remain after a printrun can be easily reused, located and retrieved from stock. Press return inks, normally too complex to be calculated manually into new recipes, are thus included in future printruns. GSE Dispensing will have a table-top display of its dispens- ing program. kPG JoINS ForCeS wIth SmAG GrAPhIque No. 728 KPG Corp., formerly Ko-Pack, is very pleased to join its part- ner, SMAG Graphique, a reputable French manufacturer of high-end finishing equipment for the digital and self-adhesive 26 FLEXO august 2010 www.flexography.org August2010_mech.indd 26 8/13/10 7:45 AM
