FLEXO Magazine : August 2010
Industry Indicators 28 FLEXO august 2010 www.flexography.org to the print deck and plate rolls make this press ‘simple for any operator, regardless of skill level. Mark Andy has installed more than 20 of its Performance Series P7 presses since its launch. Orders for the new P5 have already been received, with first installations to be completed. Martin to Show MBSC/Str CoMBo no. 811 Martin Automatic will debut its new MBSC splicer in combination with the STR rewinder at Labelexpo Americas in booth 811. The MBSC shares the same operating and time saving fea- tures as Martin’s MBS splicer; however, the MBSC has been specifically designed for narrower web widths up to 13in. and smaller roll diameters up to 31.5in. Running at speeds up to 500fpm, the new MBSC/STR combo is claimed to boost productivity and reduce material waste. Visitors to the show will also be able to see the MBS, Mar- tin’s flagship butt splicer, and the LRD rewinder. MPS: the anSwer to Short runS no. 927 This year, MPS will show three press lines at Labelexpo Americas 2010 • EC, new • EF, new • EXL-packaging The new and redesigned EC and EF printing presses give a revolutionary answer to short order runs. Thanks to the follow- ing features, the new EC and EF help reducing press set-up time and job change-over waste enormously: Automated Print Control (APC): automation of print settings is the new standard! • iControl • Crisp.Dot technology • Multi Drive gearless servo technology The EC and EF printing presses are also the optimal answer for both label and flexible packaging printing and converting. Short web technology and print sleeves are both standards for the new EC and EF printing presses. Lean Inking, the effective inking system developed by MPS, is now available as an option on all MPS press lines. Lean Inking combines the advantages of open and closed inking systems in one solution, resulting in the following benefits: • Higher printing speeds • No ink spitting nor misting • Automatic ink level control • Less anilox wear • 85 percent reduced ink waste Furthermore, MPS will show the EXL-packaging printing press. This machine is designed with the “Technology with Respect” engineering philosophy. The machine at the show has a web width of 22in. and incorporates: • Automated Print Control (APC) • Crisp.Dot technology which introduces an extremely high print definition into the flexible packaging • Multi Drive gearless servo technology • Lean inking; an optimal combination of closed and open doctor blade systems • UV and Hot Air driers both for water and solvent systems • In line lamination nilPeter to unveil new PreSSeS no. 3105/3205 Nilpeter will show five presses at Labelexpo Americas in Booth 3105 and 3205, including the FG-4200, a new addition to the FG-Line of mid-range UV flexo machines with a maximum web width of 16.5in. An eight-color version will run with a film package during the event, allowing the machine to handle a variety of label and packaging materials. Each of the print units incorpo- rates dual servo-drives and the latest lightweight sleeve plate technology. The range of presses is positioned between the modular FA-Line and the FB-Line. Manufacturing is split be- tween Nilpeter’s plants in Denmark and in the U.S . At the show Nilpeter will also launch the FA-6 press. With a maximum web width of 22in. (558mm), the machine is aimed at the growing number of label converters around the world that are also producing film packaging and carton board products. An eight-color version will be on display, equipped with both UV curing units and hot air driers for producing a variety of film packaging, label and carton board products. An eight-color FB-3300 S, which has a web width up to 13in., will run with a combination of UV curing units and hot air dryers. The in-line finishing functions will include a leaflet/ label or booklet system for running promotional products. The print units allow fast adjustments and rapid anilox roll changes, aided by servo-drives for the principle functions. PaMarCo GloBal GraPhiCS DeMonStrateS eFlo no. 3454 Pamarco Global Graphics will be exhibiting at Labelexpo at booth 3545 with technical sales representatives available throughout the show. Pamarco will be featuring a precision la- ser engraved roll manufactured using the latest generation of engraving technology, EFlo. EFlo technology is a unique cell structure ideal for narrow web and label applications and is the world’s first anilox to be developed around digital technol- ogy, it features a new improved cell profile that will provide a more consistent ink lay down, whilst also reducing ink spitting which is common within UV ink environments. This unique cell angle profile now allows printers to work with the expanded color gamuts in particular high definition or Opaltone technol- ogy, without concern of the angles clashing with the printing August2010_mech.indd 28 8/13/10 7:45 AM
