Cradle to Cradle Certification is a scientifi- cally based process developed by MBDC, a worldwide consultancy firm based out of Charlottesville, VA. To achieve the certification, every Bell Inc. supplier that contributes to the manu- facture of USPS envelopes—including substrates, inks, tape, tear string and adhe- sive suppliers—went through a demand- ing series of measurements and assess- ments conducted by MBDC. eagle Flexible packaging Adds shrink sleeve Capabilities Chicago, IL-based FTA member Eagle Flexible Packaging now includes shrink sleeve capabilities among its extensive portfolio of products. “The growth of shrink sleeves is expected to reach 12 percent to 14 percent through 2007, with continued growth projected for 2008,” said Thomas Tyndall, vice present and general manager. Customers have been request- ing shrink sleeves for label and packaging development, including test market and product launches. noveon Changes name Noveon Inc., a subsidiary of Lubrizol Corp., has changed its name to Lubrizol Advanced Material Inc. The new Lubrizol logo appeared on commercial documents, business cards and stationary in North America during June. The change will take place in the rest of the world by the end of the summer. Lubrizol Corp. acquired Noveon in 2004. The name change is part of a one-company initiative for creating a common identity for the firm and its sub- sidiaries. All other personnel and contacts remain the same. gordon graydon night school CFTC (Canadian Flexographic Training Committee) and Gordon Graydon Memorial Secondary School, Mississauga, ON, Canada, are offering a pair of two- month night school courses, beginning this fall. Flexographic industry profession- als looking to brush up on skills or learn basic concepts can enroll in Introduction to Flexo – Basic Training. Or, for more advanced flexographers, there’s Advanced Pressroom Training, which teaches press characterization, pressroom techniques and basic troubleshooting. Either course is $845. Approximately 1.8 million sq. ft. of exhibit space in 19 halls has been reserved by more than 1,800 exhibitors. drupa 2008 will encompass the entire fairgrounds, including all new halls, from May 29 through June 11. Increases in leading international technology suppliers and large joint presentations from Asia are contributing factors in this growth.
