Quality tops our DIY list » ADVERTISING FEATURE Australians aren't afraid to pick up a paint brush when it comes to decorating their home -- so long as the colour is right and it lasts, according to a recent survey by Finish paint. Preferring to tackle projects themselves than call in the professionals, almost 90 per cent of survey respondents are in agreement that an interior paint job is definitely a DIY task, with an ambitious 66 per cent also willing to paint an exterior themselves. However, enthusiasm doesn't always get the perfect finish, with 20 per cent of those surveyed saying a botched DIY paint job has led to tension with a loved one. When choosing paint for their home, two-thirds of respondents cited colour choice as a key factor over criteria such as price or brand, with 16 per cent more females than males saying colour played a leading role. The online survey last month, showed almost 70 per cent of all respondents looked for long-lasting paint. It's no surprise that the survey also revealed 41 per cent of homeowners wait 7-10 years before refreshing the colour of their home interior and 28 per cent wait 5-6 years. ''For consumers, it's all about getting the right paint finish. When it comes down to it, consumers place significant value on range and durable finish,'' Home Timber and Hardware paint category manager Simone Cameron said. Health features were high on the agenda for painters, with half of respondents rating protection against mould, mildew and fungus as an important paint quality. Notably, 10 per cent more females than males prioritised protective paint features. ''Consumers -- especially females, look for products that will help keep a family home clean and fresh and paint is no exception.'' homehardware.com.au Style At Home, Shop T14, Cnr Doody & O'Riordan Sts Alexandria Lowest Shutter Prices Country Oak Venetians off 20% Plus Receive Natura Roman Blinds 30% off Plus Receive Shantung Roller Blinds off 30% Plus Receive 13 19 13 accentblinds.com.au Call for a free measure & quote It's our AND our lowest shutter prices End Of Season Sale Off-street parking www.colortile.com.au NEW TILE showroom NOW OPEN 271 HARBORD ROAD DEE WHY PHONE 02 9905 9699 See the difference in: Tiles | Porcelain | Natural Stone | Vanities | Basins Baths | Toilets | Tapware | Huge Range | Expert Design Advice | Open 6 Days Revitalise Your Tiles & Hard Surfaces! The great thing about tiles is that they outlast many other floor coverings. Unfortunately, over time, dirt can become ingrained in the tiles and grout joints, which can be very hard to remove by home owners. At Tile Cleaning Solutions, we have a way of cleaning that "hard to remove" dirt from tiles. The process we use utilises hot water at high pressure to remove all the in-ground dirt and oils from the tiles and grout joints. A powerful vacuum simultaneously removes the water and dirt from the floor, leaving it totally clean, just like the first day the tiles were installed. It sounds messy...it isn't. Because all the cleaning is completed in a dome that is attached to the floor, there is no mess or overspray. We can clean and/or seal all internal and external tiles, pavers, stone surfaces, stencilcrete, stencilled & concrete driveways. MINOR REPAIRS ALSO DONE BY A QUALIFIED TILER.
