Industry Indicators First duPont Cyrel FAST Round Systems Installed in north America DuPont Packaging Graphics re- cently announced the first installations of DuPont Cyrel FAST round sleeve processing systems in North America. The evaluation units were installed at Southern Graphic Systems located in Hickory, N .C ., and at OEC Graphics in Oshkosh, Wisc. “T he integration of Cyrel FAST ther- mal processing technology with continu- ous print sleeves is a step change in both productivity and quality, and we believe that Southern Graphic Systems and OEC Graphics are ideal locations for our first North American evaluation sites,” says Wendy Andrushko, North American sales director at DuPont Pack- aging Graphics. “T hese two companies have long experience with in-the-round image car- riers and will provide us with excellent technical and end-user feedback as we bring this important new technology to market,” she says. “ T hese first two Cyrel FAST round installations, along with the start-up of our own sleeve manufactur- ing facility in Towanda, Pa. , c ontinue to demonstrate our commitment to the advancement of the flexographic pack- aging industry. ” “ We believe that this is an important new technology and we are delighted to help DuPont bring it to market,” says Chris Horton, senior vice president at Southern Graphic Systems. “As a lead- er in the production of image carriers for both the gravure and flexographic packaging industries, we truly under- stand the value of a round print form for the printer. Cyrel FAST round offers the combination of quality and speed that our customers are looking for.” “OEC Graphics pioneered the continuous print photopolymer sleeve with the introduction of Seamex to the North American flexo market in the early 1990s,” says Jack Schloesser, CEO of OEC Graphics. “ T he introduction of the Cyrel FAST round system, along with the start-up of a local Cyrel round manufacturing site, will make continu- ous print sleeves much more accessible to North American flexographers. With our history in round print forms, we are in an excellent position to help DuPont get that message out. ” DuPont expects full commercializa- tion of the Cyrel FAST round system and at least two more installations in North America in 2011. The Cyrel round manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania is currently going through final qualifica- tion and beginning production ramp-up. dCM Group Expands in north America ATN Industrie, as part of the DCM Group, has announced plans to open a demonstration center at its North Ameri- can sales and technical service center, based in Kiel, Wisc., to showcase the latest shrink sleeve and slitting technolo- gies. An open house is planned when the facility comes on line this fall. With the opening of the Wisconsin office, DCM, a 55-year-old converting equipment manu- facturer, announced the appointment of Mauro Consalvi as sales manager for the U.S. and Canada. It also elected to join the ranks of Flexographic Technical Association supplier members and will be exhibiting at INFO*FLEX 2011, May 2-3 in Indianapolis. DCM specializes in the manufacture of coating and laminating machines for water-based, solvent-based, solventless adhesives and wax. It also manufactures a wide range of slitter- rewinders for shrinkable sleeves and inspection rewinders. DCM-USIMECA and ATN constitute DCM’s Flexible Packaging division, with HOLWEG and H.G. WEBER lines representing the Paper Bag division.
