Their assignment: Customize branding of narrow web flexographically printed labels or packaging to be used for promotional items associated with the annual Phoenix Challenge fundraising golf tournament. The roster of participating institutions in the fourth an- nual collegiate championship is as follows: • Appalachian State University, Boone, N .C. • California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, Calif. • Clemson University, Clemson, S .C . • Central Piedmont Community College, Charlotte, N.C . • Dunwoody College of Technology, Minneapolis, Minn. • Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, Ken. • Ryerson University, Toronto, Ont., Canada • University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, Mo. • Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, Mich. The project must include at least two, but no more than four, label or packaging items for consideration. Use of the current Phoenix Challenge logo, revision of the current logo, or complete redesign of the logo is permitted. Furthermore, if the logo is used, it must be reproduced using a maximum of three spot colors, which are not specified. The same three colors—and only those colors—must be used on all items submitted for evaluation. An optional black or white color may also be added to any label or packaging design. Custom-printed golf-related promotional items may be labeled or inserted into the proposed packaging. These items will not be consid- ered during the judging process. As with past competitions (see list of winners), it is permissi- ble to hand-finish items in order to reduce the cost of creating product samples.
