FLEXO Magazine : August 2011
With 33 years experience, KYMC in May held an open house at their newly built 150,000+ sq. feet corporate headquarters to unveil and demonstrate their new gearless flagship CI, the Euroflex 8120. The event attracted visitors from 12 countries spanning the Americas to as far as India and South Africa. Third generation family member Eric Pan describes the press as "European components combined with Taiwanese technology.” AUTO REGISTER AND IMPRESSION A 48” monitor above the console allowed both technicians and audience to witness machine status with the touchscreen HMI. The open house began with a brand new job without any memory settings stored in the job file. With complete integration of eltro- mat’s webvideo_star 2000, a counter was started at a green saving 200 fpm to measure make-ready waste. In less than 3 minutes register and kiss impres- sion were automatically corrected and signaled with less than 34 feet. The register was verified repeat- edly at incremental speeds of 500, 830 and finally 1195 fpm. A network of video cameras fed the over- head monitor of the unwind flying splice immediately before camera switching to the rewind flying splice at 1492 fpm. 10 MINUTE CHANGEOVER In under a 10 minute changeover, sleeves were machine ejected and swapped while a job change was recalled in memory on a Siemens touch screen. With the Eltromat fully integrated into the Euroflex’s memory management, the operator recalled the saved register as impression settings in under 2 minutes requiring only 8-10 ft of material of waste. The CI was then run at 1155 fpm for another 900ft roll run. At the conclusion of the demonstration, attendees were invited to have a closer look at the Euroflex before lunch was served. Attendees also had the opportunity to see other presses both complete and in construction at the two main assembly halls as well as tour the modern office facilities. OCTOBERFEST OPEN HOUSE Following positive feedback, KYMC is working with Apex to test GTT Anilox rolls with Esko HD seperated Kodak plates and sun chemical inks for a second Euroflex open house in October. www.kymcamerica.com Euro without Euros KYMC launches their flagship CI, the Euroflex at their new plant.
