Anilox roll and print cylinders are stored logically for prompt access. Best Label’s scheduling operation. Dan Crammer is in foreground. Best Label management and FTA’s FIRST Certification team members celebrate a precedent-setting achievement: Best Label attaining FIRST Company Certification. To date, it’s the only firm holding that distinction. L-R: Justin Moss, Mark Cisternino, Travis Gilkey, Dan Crammer, Rose McKernon, John Crammer, David Duncan, Joe Tuccitto, Larry Hernandez. Running to the numbers. Confident employees monitoring the pressrun. Setup procedures are short and standardized. FIRST compliant materials staging area. “Literally and figuratively, we’re able to match to a proof that quickly. My goal is to not have customers come out here for press checks anymore. We want them to see their proof and approve it in their office because they now know that what we print and what we send them is going to match that proof. That frees up their time so they can focus on other aspects of their business. ” A large banner hanging inside the plant serves as a cheer- ful reminder of what was accomplished, for both employees and consumers to see. John Crammer also spoke to the im- portance of the customer recognizing the successful comple- tion of the program. “T he larger customers are very enthused about the on- going training, the measurability, the accountability and the fact that it’s led to a more consistent product,” he said. “ The smaller customers, through the same results, have seen an increase in quality. We’ve seen an increase in efficiency which has allowed quicker turnaround times. It’s a win-win!” MAKING A DIFFERENCE Best Label is certainly proud of the work done to attain FIRST Company Certification. Staff realizes that though the hours they put in were long and hard, it has already proved to be more than worth it, for a number of reasons, including the sense of togetherness they felt in achieving a common goal. 16 FLEXO SepTeMBeR 2011 www.flexography.org
