Industry Indicators High-Growth Opportunities for Folding Cartons Demand for Higher-Quality Graphics & smaller Packs Boosts consumption Converter sales of carton board are set to grow 4.4 percent annually through 2016 and will top $100 bil- lion. That word comes from Pira International, which forecasts Asia to show the strongest growth at 6.5 percent annually. Analysts say, production growth continues to aver- age approximately 2.5 percent annually, as it has since 2005. Asia leads the way, with America and Europe following close behind. Those three entities account for 97 percent of global volume of roughly 43 million tons ($78 billion in 2010). At end-user level, the highest growth sectors in percent- age terms will be spirits, health care, confectionery, tobacco, hardware and chilled food. Lowest growth will occur in pet food, soft drinks, savory snacks and baked products.
