4 HLF - HOME LIVING: NORTH WEST, Tuesday, December 6, 2011 fu1959 CHRISTMAS DECORATING THE TABLE Fresh flowers and pot plants in Christmas colours are excellent choices. MAKE SURE IT SETS THE MOOD Janita Singh CHRISTMAS means food and festivities with loved ones and a beautifully decorated Christ- mas table sets the mood. Decorating your table doesn't have to be a hard task. Make this a family affair for more bonding time together. Think theme: Start off by working out a theme. Do you want something traditional or modern? If you're decorating other parts of the house, try and tie in with the overall look and feel. Having said this, your table decoration can make a state- ment on its own. Pick a few colours to work with. Bring out your best china and silverware or any special dishes. Set your table with a tablecloth, table runner, placemats and napkins in holiday colours and prints, making sure the prints don't clash with other things you will add on later. Centrepieces: It's important to make a focal point. This could be anything -- wreaths, candles, trinkets and treasures. Many people like using floral arrange- ments as centrepieces. Fresh flowers and pot plants in Christ- mas colours are excellent choices. You can choose a large decorative bowl or basket filled with pine cones, berries and fruits. Extra elegance: For more in- terest, why not put a few small gifts on the table. Trinkets filled with homemade candies, nuts or even jewellery will add more interest to the table during Christmas lunch. Bonbons have a traditional place. Bring out festive candles and when guests arrive, light some incense sticks or oil burners. Something old, something new: Not everything has to be new. Some used decorations from last year will look just as good. And a special Christmas heirloom handed down by grandma is a perfect way to set the mood. It's all about getting the right balance. shutters curtains blinds 2277756 5/7 HUGE SHUTTER SALE! www.stylehouse.net.au SEE OUR PRODUCTS ON DISPLAY AT HOME OBSESSION, ROUSE HILL TOWN CENTRE NEAR TARGET 9629 9445 SAVE 20% BUILT IN WARDROBES FACTORY DIRECT PRICES BUILT IN WARDROBES FACTORY DIRECT PRICES PH: 9890 7477 PH: 9890 7477 • FREE MEASURE & QUOTE • LIFETIME GUARANTEE Made to suit your budget & needs • Style • Service • Variety • Full range • Accessories • Hinged Doors • Sliding Doors • Over 20 years exp.
