Information about upcoming meetings is posted on the FTA website www.flexography. org, as well as on the FTA LinkedIn User 's Group. • The Grocery Manufacturers As- sociation (GMA) announced the re- sults of survey research indicating that food; beverage and consumer products manufacturers anticipate that they will eliminate four billion pounds of packaging waste nation- wide from 2005-2020. • FLEXO introduced and/or ex- panded a number of products and services throughout the year in vari- ous Selection Guides. From anilox roll to ink to presses, FLEXO had all the new technology covered. Ink & Substrate selection comes down to compatibility. A group of authors were dispatched in March to explain how to improve quality, trim costs, control waste, maintain consistent color and promote fast changeover. Anilox rolls and doctor blades are indispensible---and harmony between the two is critical for both print quality and process efficiency. FLEXO broke down a game plan on cell geometry and cell volume; line count and en- graving; and a number of other components critical to every print deck. A new press can change the operational dynamics of a plant. Quality that rivals gravure and offset can be achieved and, with state-of-the-art processor technol- ogy, it can even be easy. Explana- tions were offered in August. • San Antonio, TX---In the state where everything is BIG, Texas is set to host the largest gathering of packaging/printing/converting professionals in North America--- INFO*FLEX and Forum (March 18-21). For 30 years, INFO*FLEX steadily gaining a reputation and is now widely recognized as the industry 's foremost event of its kind. Next year will be no different. The show floor boasts 200+ booths of new products, sup- plies and services; a show floor presentation theater; an educa- tional pavilion; a Tuesday social networking event; and more. FTA's Forum, with a 53-year history, will highlight compara- tive print processes, emerging technologies, higher press speeds, expanded color gam- uts, standardization of color specifications, and ways in which to achieve operational excellence.
