FLEXO Magazine : January 2012
Uteco’s Kiss&Go® consists of a compact reading unit, installed after the last printing deck of the central impres- sion (CI) group, and complemented by a processing unit. The reading unit scans the print of all the colors and sends the collected data to a dedicated software which processes it. After a few repeats, thanks to a high-speed interface, the system calculates the optimal printed dot. COLOR CONFORMITY Color matching is another activity that can cost time and generate waste. When starting each new job, it is necessary to find the correspondence between the reference color and the printed color, within given tolerances. This result can be achieved both with manual and semi-automatic formulations, but the ideal and faster solution is automatic color match- ing, that SmartMatch® offers. The technology promotes the reduction of time for on-press color correction, and at the same time sets the right color thanks to a portable kitchen, the SmartKitch®. The operator simply reads the reference color through a spectrophotometer and compares it with the color obtained on the printed substrate. Data is then sent to the automatic dosing device which carries out the necessary corrections. Looking to the future, Uteco is making a commitment to G.I.M.® . T he concept entails integration of the production pro- cess with the transfer of data. The goal is to identify solutions for optimum printing. G .I.M.® will manage both the peripheral equipment dedicated to the printing process and the choice of anilox roll and plate sleeves available, all according to the needs of the printer. Through this procedure, G.I .M.® can suggest all the steps and sequence of job preparation. The system helps in the preparation of the jobs, but it also deciphers the corrections needed to prepare the ink recipe according to the parameters detected on the press and delivers the data to the plate mount- ing machine to facilitate plate mounting. The result is optimiza- tion of ink usage, the best selection of sleeves and anilox and a correct guideline for the operator to prepare jobs. Uteco stands by several unequivocal and precise goals: reduction of preparation and changeover times, waste reduc- tion, an appreciable increase in daily productivity of the ma- chines, and most importantly, better accuracy on all jobs. n www.flexography.org january 2012 FLEXO 25 UTECO SmartMatch® Genetic Innovation in Converting www.uteco.com REFERENCE COLOR FIRST PRINTED RESULT SPECTROPHOTOMETER SmartKitch® D ATA TRANSFER INK FORMULATION FINAL PRINTED RESULT: MATCH COLOR UTECO SmartMatch ® Genetic Innovation in Converting www.uteco.com REFERENCE COLOR FIRST PRINTED RESULT SPECTROPHOTOMETER SmartKitch® DATA TRANSFER INK FORMULATION FINAL PRINTED RESULT: MATCH COLOR
