According to marketing executives, “The high-energy UV irradiation can be combined with standard UV tube light to complete the through cure of the image to the plate’s floor efficiently. Subsequently, a virtual 1-1 reproduction from the image on the LAMS layer is accomplished. ” Presently, the main discussion regarding the benefit of flat top dot technology for the flexo industry has focused on the potential of print quality improvements — and for good reason. But to achieve this higher standard in a flexo produc- tion setting (not simply well-crafted, painstaking promotional pieces or award entries) a meaningful technological innova- tion must also provide the fundamental building blocks to bring the potential improvement to reality. Some of the unde- niable necessities include increased print predictability and the opportunity for further innovation.
