FLEXO Magazine : April 2012
Print Automation Park The International Cooperation for the Integration of the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress (CIP4) organization announced that signup by exhibitors for its Print Automation Park at drupa 2012 has exceeded expecta- tions, prompting the need to expand the exhibit area. Products to be demon- strated will bridge the span from prepress and MIS to printing and finishing from leading automation experts. Several new JDF integrations will be highlighted. CIP4 will host a central “information hub” and representatives will be on hand to answer questions on JDF implementation and ROI, with findings from their soon-to-be published worldwide print automation survey. FLENEX DLE system has been optimized as a quick and eco-friendly way of making flexo plates. This is helpful for any job requiring a rapid turnaround, and particularly important in the event of a plate remake, considerably reducing press downtime. • The FLENEX DLE system elimi- nates the multiple processing steps (UV exposure, solvent or thermal processing and dry- ing) that are required with cur- rent LAM technologies, which in turn creates a much more streamlined process and allows companies to make better use of their resources. The FLENEX DLE system is eco-friendly as it removes the need for the multiple pieces of equipment associated with the current LAM plate-making process, and is completely 100 percent free of VOCs. • The new B2 inkjet digital press for folding carton applica- tions will be unveiled as a technology showcase. Using some of the core components pioneered within the Jet Press 720 inkjet digital press for commercial print applica- tions, this new press is set to revolutionize production of short-run package printing and converting. • Major updates to its entire XMF Workflow and Production Management Suite were also announced. These include the launch at drupa 2012 of a new cloud-based color manage- ment system called XMF ColorPath, designed to help printers manage color con- sistency across multiple print processes, and the launch of XMF Workflow V5 and XMF Remote V9, both with a host of new features and capabilities. These major enhancements to the XMF product range take advantage of new cloud- based technologies to extend the reach of the system into new areas of print production. Visual Communications & Game-Changing Technologies INX International Ink Co, INX Digital International and SAKATA INX will dem- onstrate a global presence offering visual communication technologies with big picture capabilities and local solutions in Hall 3, Stand A-50.
