FLEXO Magazine : April 2012
Target = Waste & Efficiency Flexo Evolution by Flexotecnica embodies the essence of strategic principles which have countermarked the last new generation gearless “X ” presses. They feature the ap- plication of innovative solutions aimed at assuring added productivity, even with the shortest of printruns, excellent print quality of the printed product and the eco-sustainabili- ty of the converting process. Novel integrated solutions to be demonstrated at drupa in Hall 10, Stand A-47 , target drastic reduction of waste, both at print set-up and during production. Flexotecnica’s in-house developed auto impression setting system, A.I .F., provides the utmost efficiency thanks to the introduction of an endless array of developments to control and manage the production process within the philosophy of T.Q .M .A . (Total Quality Management Approach). Also in the news at Flexotecnica: parent company North American Cerrutti, announces the birth of Cerutti Packag- ing Equipment Bigger, Better Plates MacDermid will launch its new Accent coating plates and LAVA 5080 thermal plate processor at drupa. The following products to be displayed in Hall 5, Stand A-37 include: • LAVATM 5080 Thermal Plate Processing: This new processor will enable printers and plate reproduction houses to create plates up to 50-in. x 80-in., allowing wide web printers who had been constrained by the previous maximum plate size of 42-in. x 60-in. to gain access to the benefits of thermal plate processing. • LUX Platemaking Process: LUX 38-in. laminator is designed specifically for the narrow web market. It includes several new features that make lamination of the LUX membrane easier and more efficient. Membrane 200 is another option for the LUX platemaking process that allows the simultaneous creation of both flat top LUX dots and an engineered surface pattern in the plate. This innovation combines the print advantages of the LUX dot shape and the improved ink transfer of a surface pattern in one simple step. • Accent Coating Plates: MacDermid Accent allows printers to image and produce coating plates on their existing UV CTP devices, giving them more control of their workflow and printing schedule. This new coating plate can be processed in water and is compatible with most UV and aqueous varnishes. • LiquifleX Platemaker: This combines the benefits of liquid, such as low plate cost and flexibility of operation, with the simplic- ity of sheet platemaking. LiquifleX allows the operator to set up the platemaking process without calculations or guesswork. • Aspect Quadra RS: The newest silver film replacement technology from MacDermid allows printers to make their own nega- tives in-house, without silver film or the need for processing systems or chem- istry. Featuring four print heads and an improved film transport system the new Quadra RS can handle films up to 60-in. / 1.52 meters wide, allowing it to supply the largest platemaking formats available. 54 FLEXO april 2012 www.flexography.org
