Greater Port Macquarie : Facilities Guide
By Car Greater Port Macquarie is just a 4 1/2 hours drive north of Sydney and 7 hours south of Brisbane, via the Pacific Highway. If you are coming from the west, take the New England Highway to Maitland to join up with the Pacific Highway at Hexham, or the Oxley Highway from Tamworth or Armidale, winding your way through some breathtaking scenery. By Air Flying time to Port Macquarie is up to one hour from Sydney and one and a half hours from Brisbane. Major carriers operate at least five daily commercial flights from Sydney, and there is a daily service from Brisbane and Canberra. By Rail Travel in air-conditioned comfort and watch the magnificent Australian landscape roll by. The XPT train service between Sydney and Brisbane stops at Wauchope with an added coach service (20 mins) for passengers visiting Port Macquarie, and at Kendall for easy access to the Camden Haven. By Coach Let someone else worry about the driving and travel in style aboard a comfortable air-conditioned coach on one of the daily services from Brisbane and Sydney. Greyhound Australia and Premier Motor Service both service the Greater Port Macquarie region. Getting Around the Region The region caters for all levels of transport, from modern charter coaches to mini buses for airport/rail transfers.
