2 HLS - HOME LIVING: SOUTH, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 MB GARDENING ADD ELEGANCE TO POT, SAUCER IF mum loves gardening, one such project turns a simple terracotta clay pot and saucer into an elegant gift she will treasure. This is so simple to do and the end results will be enjoyed by mum and those speci- al visitors to her garden. Start by getting a terracotta pot and saucer. This can be cheaply bought in any store or nursery. If you have an old one, just give it a good wash. All you need to do is flip your clay pot upside down -- this will serve as the base of your birdbath. The saucer will be used on top of the birdbath to hold water. Use a deep saucer. Now decorate as you wish. Spray paint or sponge paint the pot, sprinkle glitter or add craft. Wrap tinsel around the pot or use a stencil to make designs. Set it in a special place mum loves to take a break. Similarly, smaller clay pots with ribbon through the bottom will make garden ornaments. MOTHER'S DAY HOME GIFTS ARE BEST AND THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE BIG ITEMS Buy small things for mum which will also make a difference in the house. Janita Singh GIFT ideas for the home are especially great for mothers who are avid homemakers. But don't go running out to buy her big ticket items such as furniture. Start with small things which will also make a difference in the house. Buy smaller items like in- terior accents, including lamps, clocks, jewellery boxes, book cases, picture frames, mirrors, decorative pots and vases, small area rugs, throw pillows, paint- ings and small sculptures. Get vouchers from a hard- ware shop or book her a Do-It- Yourself class with an expert. Buy blinds or new curtains and change them when mum is away for a lovely surprise. Handcrafted items make precious gifts and memories. Dried flower arrangements or bags of potpourri to hang over doorknobs are great. If she loves gardening and outdoors, a good idea would be to make her a quirky birdhouse or a bird feeder. A bird bath, pot plant hanger, wind chime or a nice pot plant in a handpainted pot are sure winners. For those with time, try mak- ing candles, sew her an apron, tablecloth and knit a sweater. • 2 x Mirror doors • Wall to wall up to 2.4m wide • 1 x Single Hanging space • 1 x Draw unit (4 draws) + 3 shelving •1xShoerack • 1 x Double hanging space • 3 x mirror doors •Walltowallupto 3.6m wide Bankstown 9786 0395e Surcharge applies to Campbelltown area Wally's Wardrobe World 2173633i hlc wk49 up to 2.4m wide up to 3.6m wide 2.4m high 2.4m high $570 inc GST $870 inc GST Showroom & Factory: Fax: 77 Larra St, Yennora 9632 1399 Specialising in Shopfront & Domestic Roller Shutters SAVE $$$ - FACTORY DIRECT PRICES Master Lic:408646770 Roller Shutters Shopfront Shutters Stainless Steel Doors Automatic Garage Doors FREE MEASURE & QUOTES Call 9632 1111 www.burwoodshutters.com.au 5% OFF YOUR LOWEST GENUINE PRICE Window Shutters Safety Doors Window Grilles Automatic Gates 2061737i hlw wk15 BUILT IN WARDROBES FACTORY DIRECT PRICES BUILT IN WARDROBES FACTORY DIRECT PRICES PH: 9890 7477 PH: 9890 7477 • FREE MEASURE & QUOTE • LIFETIME GUARANTEE Made to suit your budget & needs • Style • Service • Variety • Full range • Accessories • Hinged Doors • Sliding Doors • Over 20 years exp.
