FLEXO Magazine : June 2012
board features an integrated compressible layer that helps to minimize any washboard effect on all the most commonly used corrugated board types. Designed to ensure efficient production of coating formats, the coating plate is suitable for all current coating systems, including UV ink systems. Mimaki unveiled its new high-gap UV-LED flatbed printer and also displayed the high-speed, high-quality JV400LX se- ries, which uses environmentally friendly latex ink, including the world’s first white latex ink. The JV400SUV series combines the flexibility of solvent printing with the durability of UV-curing inks. Both systems employ Mimaki’s easy-to-use RIP, Raster- Link6, which enables three ink layers in one pass with white and color inks. And they offer outstanding print speed without compromising quality. The systems can print up to 18.1 m2/h, while a minimum dot size of 4 picoliters and the ability to use variable-sized ink dots ensures smooth gradation without a grainy appearance. Luscher touted its MultiDX! Flex as the computer-to-plate system for all relief printing applications. It is designed so that imaging of materials is possible with a digital coating LAMS layer. Target market is label/narrow web. The MultiDX! T-Flex incorporates hybrid technology making it possible to image print forms with different spectral sensitivity, such as thermal offset plates combined with flexo plates. Finally, the MultiDX! UV-Flex is the flagship of the Luscher imager portfolio. It com- bines mask ablation and UV direct imaging in one CTP system. Degraf encouraged flexographers to “ work positive” and familiarized them with a line of prepress solutions for every size and make of flexo plate. Entries included the 200 series for 26-in. x 32-in. plates—a compact, all-in-one, high exposure UV, automatic plate cleaning combo unit with drying drawers. Other processors were the 300 series (36-in. x 48-in.) com- bined exposure dryer and light finishing units; the 400 series ( 47-in. x 60-in.) with cooled bed and 500 series (52-in. x80-in.) with lamp temperature control and UV compensation. PRESS ACCESSORIES SWEDEV called attention to its SWED/CUT doctor blade line, ranging from a conventional M-Flex bade to the Series 700 MicroKote, Series 500 stainless steel MicroNox 11 and Series 100 EsterFlex Polyester Containment Blade. Refined microstructures of the blades were said to reduce cylinder wear. Use may help reduce anilox roll damage in some ap- plications. Extended blade life is fostered thanks to corosion resistance properties. FLXON Inc. is the exclusive agent for North America. HarperScientific showcased its PhantomTM proofer, Phan- tom QDTM assembly, stainless steel brushes, roll covers, and a ProFilterTM strainer with an ink magnet filtering device through its German licensee, INOMETA. The Harper GraphicsTM brand of ceramic engraved rolls is the cornerstone product in Inometa’s Flexo Systems Group. Using XDITM (Extreme Digital Imaging) technology, the roll on display had text and logo engravings in addition to images of HarperScientific’s Phantom QD ink proofing system. The roll also had 60-degree hex engravings of 70 l/cm (180cpi), 200 l/cm (500cpi), 440 l/ cm (1100cpi), and the KatRon 475l/cm (1200cpi) elongated geometry. Expanded images of banded engravings allowed 54 FLEXO june 2012 www.flexography.org
