TABLE TALK WINTER'S CONTENTED COLOURS VIBRANT IDEAS TO BRIGHTEN UP YOUR INDOORS Add interest to your winter table with colours, freshly cut flowers and creative centrepieces. A Dandi winter table setup looks at adding outdoor freshness. Janita Singh WINTER gives us more reasons to stay indoors and enjoy warm and comforting meals with loved ones. To generate more interest around the table, give it a cool facelift. While injecting some colour is the first thought that springs to mind, there are many other clever ways to make your table the talk of the town. Sydney-based design studio, Dandi, which specialises in the design and creation of beautiful textile patterns, says it's as easy as ditching the plastic ware and bringing out that fine china to make a difference. And here's a few tricks to help you be the hostess-with-the- mostess in no time this winter: Plastic placemats and paper serviettes won't do your master- piece justice. A beautiful table- cloth set with colourful fabric napkins can work wonders, add- ing warmth and a sense of occasion to the table. Adapt the setting to the time of day, as a lunch, afternoon tea and dinner party will each have different requirements. Creative centrepieces look fantastic, but make sure they are no higher than eye level or your guests won't be able to see each other. For winter, get the appropriate prints and don't forget to colour coordinate your setting. Add detail with napkins set in rings and candles. Lunch is more casual so your table setting should show this. Use a lighter colour theme when choosing tablecloths and nap- kins and arrange beautiful vases with freshly cut flowers. For extra enthusiasm, give each guest a menu outlining what you will be serving. Bring the outside in. Some twigs and branches, sprayed in bright colours or winter veg- etables are good options for natural centrepieces. A little goes a long way. Adding potpourri, oil burners or simply collecting some spices and placing them on the table announces winter's freshness. 2 HLS - HOME LIVING: SOUTH, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 MB KING WARDROBES 9725 2266 BUILT IN WARDROBES www.kingwardrobe.com.au • Free measure & quote • EFT & major credit cards • Lifetime guarantee • Combined 30yrs experience • Service all areas • Quality customer service #534/- $%3)'. 4/ 35)4 9/52 .%%$3 2181890 20/3 DIY Wardrobes Cut to size BUILT IN WARDROBES FACTORY DIRECT PRICES BUILT IN WARDROBES FACTORY DIRECT PRICES PH: 9890 7477 PH: 9890 7477 • FREE MEASURE & QUOTE • LIFETIME GUARANTEE Made to suit your budget & needs • Style • Service • Variety • Full range • Accessories • Hinged Doors • Sliding Doors • Over 20 years exp.
