BLUEPRINT OF A BOUDOIR TO YOUR COLOURS BE TRUE Janita Singh Find your own creative private space in your bedroom. PERSONAL SPACE Kirrily Johnston says: What should you consider when choosing paint colour? Whether or not the colour complements the style of your home and furnishings, and if you love it enough to live with it. What do you love about your home? That it is old. I love modern interiors but I feel so much more comfortable in something old and a bit bohemian. I love the grandeur of old rooms and high ceilings. Decorating inspiration? I love interior books and magazines. Old European style is a huge influence. I love antiques and things slightly out of the ordinary. Renovation tips? Take your time. Go through loads of books and magazines and sit with tear sheets for a while so you know you won't change your mind. BEDROOM COLOUR FASHION designer Kirrily Johnston recently gave her bedroom (pictured right) a facelift with a colour she adores -- blue, for that old worldy kind of bohemian feel. Kirrily, who recently join- ed with Dulux to showcase her new fashion collection as part of the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia, understands all too well the impact of right colours on our moods. ''I live in an old '20s bungalow-style home in Bel- levue Hill and wanted the room to have an old worldly kind of bohemian feel so chose a duck egg blue (Dulux Tenzing in half strength),'' she said. Choosing the right colour for a bedroom makeover enhanced the space and cre- ated atmosphere, making an enormous difference to the mood in the room she said. ''The bedroom is a per- sonal space where you can really create your own re- treat with carefully selected colour combinations and ac- cessories to match,'' she said. ''We each spend a lot of time in the bedroom so creating your own private retreat where you can truly relax and unwind is essen- tial for a good night's sleep.'' Her top tip -- find a colour that makes you feel good when you wake up. Her bedroom makeover can be viewed at www.dulux.com.au Seen any great ideas?
