placed on the two side edges of the web. If there are more pixels than the pixels present in the PDF file (Picture 3), the camera orders the mini-servos to ad- just the pressure to reach the number of pixels in the PDF (correct pressure as in Picture 2). As the camera eye is look- ing, it functions as an operator, controlling if there is too much or too little pressure (Picture 1), or if the register needs to be corrected (pictures 1-2 -3). Mini-servo motors (the hands) adjust print pressures and reg- ister. The operator introduces the print cylinders/sleeves in the press, and the press automatically performs the job set-up (register, pressure) with a digital waste (less than 20 meters on an eight-color press. The camera is placed on each print unit and “observes” print pressure and register at every single printed revolution. During set-up and during the run a digital operator is con- stantly controlling at each plate revolution, from the start up to Print TutorTM HD camera. www.flexography.org augusT 2012 FLEXO 63 Kocher+Beck USA L.P.
