The first product, RealVue 3D Packager, is a revolutionary approach to packaging visualization and collaboration. The software creates 3D visualization prototypes by using die line data from Adobe Illustrator or CAD applications. A designer can then easily create 360 degree simulations of complex package folding and special effects like varnish or metallic and iridescent finishes, embossing, and cutouts. By seamlessly interfacing with Adobe Illustrator, the program can dramati- cally reduce the costs associated with design sampling. This innovative software automatically identifies cut and fold lines as well as contains extensive customizable library of substrates and textures. Furthermore, the software expedites the creation and delivery of 3D “soft” mock-ups for design- ers and agencies, marketing service providers, brand owners, and packaging converters. These 3D mock-ups – complete with animated folding, effects, substrate type and textures – can then be emailed and shared via email. Once shared, the virtual prototypes can be easily opened in Web browsers with animated viewing, rotation, annotations and approval tools. Mac and Windows operating system compatibility makes the program a versatile and interesting investment. Next CGS introduced ORIS Aproove. This secure, Web-based collaboration and approval system provides real-time interactive mark-up and communication across multiple sites. Aproove is designed to integrate with an existing workflow and to handle a wide range of file formats including separated plate files. The Aproove system is based on two connected parts. First, a central web server and an agent running on the local production server. The web server supports an unlim- ited number of users and there is no limit to the number of agents adding to it. By adding Aproove to the workflow, pack- age designers and brand managers can slash time and costs normally associated with multiple rounds of review and approval. The client is not required to download any software – a web browser supporting Flash 10 is all that is needed. To cut down on errors, the program automatically copies annotated text for editing. Lastly, CGS introduced ORIS Color Tuner / Web and the Roland VersaCamm and LEC devices allow designers to cre- ate certified, color-accurate packaging prototypes easily and inexpensively. Even difficult spot colors, metallics and white on special substrates are handled with extreme color accuracy - at a fraction of the cost of conventional prototypes.
