Inside BLOG HOME BENEFITS TIME TO GO OUTDOORS LOTUS IS FUN ON THE MOVE LIBRARIES APPEAL CREATE A SANCTUARY Janita Singh Dulux Paint says its important to consider what sort of feelings will be evoked by colours in any reading area. COLOUR COUNTS Having access to your own private library is the ultimate fantasy for many bookworms. While most of us do not have that kind of space at home, it is possible to create a private and cosy reading space by setting the right mood. Dulux Colour Expert Bree Leech says when planning for the reading room, it is important to consider what sort of feelings will be evoked by colour and design selections. Rich colours such as deep reds, burgundies, and purples give a sense of romance and drama. Blues and greens remind us of nature and set a calming and relaxing mood. Yellows capture the joy of sunshine. Choosing neutrals such as white, beige, or grey allows you to be creative with soft furnishings. HOME LIBRARIES HOME libraries are not about fashion but an important part of modern living. It's that one area where we can shut our- selves away from the world and forget our troubles in a good book. There's something so appealing about a room full of books. Book lovers dream of having such a space to themselves, although not everyone has the space to have a dedicated library. If space is an issue, instead of turning a room into a library, have a desig- nated area for reading. This can serve as the information centre of your home, a source of entertain- ment when the power goes out. Find space: A spare room would be ideal, although any neglected, quiet corner of the house or basement will serve this purpose. Size matters: Work out how many books you have and what you really love to feature on the shelves. Comfort counts: Appropri- ate lighting, comfy cushions, throws, rugs and window coverings will cre- ate cosiness. Little extras: If space is a problem, think vertical.
