FTA TODAY Strategic Planning Initiative FTA Members Plot Future Directions, List Out Goals, Objectives Some two dozen Flexographic Technical Association members, representing all segments of the industry, met in Chicago on Sept. 10, 2012 to discuss future directions and develop the basis of a new organizational strategic plan. FTA’s Strategic Planning Leader, Doreen Monteleone, di- rector of EHS and special projects, organized the meeting on behalf of the association and it was facilitated by Jerry Scher of PeakFocus, who also worked with the FTA on its 2005 plan. In preparation for the meeting, an extensive amount of background information was collected during the summer months. In July and August, the FTA Board’s Executive Com- mittee gathered industry information, as well as competitive intelligence, that could impact FTA’s relevance and sustain- ability. A detailed member survey was designed and sent to the entire FTA membership. Nearly 400 members responded, providing insight into their needs, what they value in FTA, and their impression and understanding of current FTA offerings. September’s face-to-face meeting began with Scher pro- viding an overview of the findings of the Executive Committee and the member survey. Respondents indicated that the top four business challenges today were lack of or diminished sales, keeping up with new industry information, diminished margins and keeping pace with printing technology.
