FTA’s 2013 Forum & INFO*FLEX Opens for Registrations Registration to attend Flexographic Technical Associa- tion’s (FTA) 2013 Forum & INFO*FLEX Exhibition is now open. The signature flexographic printing and converting trade event is returning to San Diego, CA after a 15-year hiatus. A record number of printers/converters, consumer prod- uct companies (CPCs) and their flexographic colleagues are expected to attend. Industry veterans Bob Mullen, Sun Chemical Corp. , and, Pepper Stokes, Robbie Fantastic Flexibles, chair the 2013 conference, themed “Right Here, Right Now. ” The events will take place April 28-May 1, 2013 at the Marriott Marquis & Marina. Forum’s program features an unprecedented lineup of acknowledged business leaders and industry pace setters throughout the seven-session agenda, which includes: • Emerging Trends • Excellence in Flexography: Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner! • Expanded Gamut • FIRST (Flexographic Image Reproduction Specifica- tions & Tolerances) • FQC (Flexo Quality Consortium) • Life is Full of Options...Complying with Food Safety is Not One of Them! • Workflow Automation: Right Here, Right Now! Forum’s sister event, the INFO*FLEX Exhibition (April 29-30) is the place where printers/converters, CPCs and their business partners from across North America and the globe come to source suppliers, see and purchase new technology, and network with colleagues. Attendees can look forward to meeting more than 200 suppliers and manufacturers on the show floor, which, with more than five months until show time, is nearly 90 percent occupied. Ad- ditionally, a Solutions Theater, an Educational Pavilion, plus a social networking reception occupy San Diego Conven- tion Center’s sprawling trade show floor. Call for Entries: FTA’s 2013 Technical Innovation Award Flexographic Technical Association (FTA) has is- sued a call-for-entries for its prestigious and highly sought after Technical Innovation Award. The award recognizes those innovations of the highest technical accomplishment that are judged to be capable of significantly contributing to the overall elevation of the flexographic printing/converting industry. Competition is open to the flexographic industry, regardless of FTA membership status. Joint entries are welcome if two or more organizations are involved in developing an innovative technology. All entries must be specific to the flexographic industry as required by award rules. Entries will be judged by FTA member professionals and will be placed into one of three categories: 1. Prepress - Graphics (workflow solutions to include file preparation and/or desktop applica- tions and all plate imaging and plating technolo- gies) 2. Prepress - Pressroom (any device and/or prod- uct that would be used in the pressroom prior to print production) 3. Heavy Converting Equipment (any types of presses and/or press components) This competition is open to suppliers and printers that have introduced a product/process that demon- strates an innovative technology that will advance the flexographic industry. The entry deadline is Feb. 8 , 2013. Entry fees are $500.00 for FTA Members and $1,000 .00 for non- members. The winner(s) will be notified in March and a formal award presentation will take place at FTA’s 2013 Annual Forum, April 28 – May 1, 2013 in San Diego, CA. The award-winning technology will also be featured in exclusive articles in FLEXO Magazine— the official voice of FTA, as well as in press releases and on FTA’s website (www.flexography.org).
