FTA TODAY This Month in FTA History... 1968-Flexography Printing and Converting Magazine devotes its cover to FTA. Only piece of art-three letters-F, T, A. The headline-A de- cade of Technical Forums. The 10th Annual Forum is held April 23-24 at the Sheraton, Chicago. Douglas Tuttle is the chair. Opening the program is a panel presentation, "The Professional Approach to Flexography." Norm Abrams moder- ates. Speakers are Frank Weinheimer, N orman Collard, Norm Ferguson, and Chester Salisbury. 1978- Flexographic Technical Journal profiles the dedication of the new FFTA HQ building in Huntington Station, NY. Remarks of Warren Taylor, president, ap- pear in print. "In 1958, the promise of the flexographic printing system had excited a good number of those involved to form a Flexographic Technical Association. Charged with creating a forum to provide a mechanism for spreading the knowl- edge of improving technology of what they believed to be a new, major printing - APR I L 2008 FLEXO April process ... this 5,500 sq.ft. facility is the bricks and mortar vestige of continuing intent. It is needed to house a professional staff, imple- ment more than 35 programs and produce media now involved and needed in the future to produce the forum necessary to advance flexography in the U.S." Also newly released are a Flexography Primer and FT A's Pressman's Pocket Pal Pamphlets; plus three audio/visual pro- gram modules on "Flexo Ink Distribution systems." FTA sponsors Senior Managers Meeting, targeted at CEOs and their clos- est advisors, set for April 29 in St. Louis, MO. Interest runs high and 150 are ex- pected, one day before kick-off of Forum 1985. Outlook, prospects and money sup- ply are on the agenda. 1999-FFTA co-sponsors Managers' Workshop with AICC, April 6, Baltimore, MD. FFTA/FVTC Presswork and Pressmanship Seminar follows on the 19-22 in Appleton, WI. 1985-FTA Booth (#7426) is situated close to entrance of PRINT 85-the first international show managed by Graphic Arts Show Company. The exhibit pro- motes new educational aids developed in recent months. FTA introduces a series of Technical Briefs-concise reports designed for people without time to sift through vol- umes of text. The 12 papers are drawn from past Forum presentations and range from three to eight pages. Problems and solutions is the focus of all presentations. www.flexography.org
