FFTA TEST Program: Raising Flexo Education to a New Level Project FOG- the products, the packages and the results scorecard. The initiative was a mainstay of 2001's Forum program. By Ron and Katherine Harper We congratulate FTA on its new and exciting TEST (Technical Education Services Team) concept, to which we were inspired and motivated to contribute a substantial sum of money. We did this for a number of reasons. First, we were very impressed with the business plan and proposal; detailed and comprehensive, with clearly stated goals. It was obvious that painstaking thought was given to each segment. We assumed that the FFTA had a professional grant writer put the material together, only to learn that it was accomplished over several weekends by the Association management team. We were delighted to see the FFTA taking such a significant step forward in f1exo educa- tion. We believe this will prove to be one of the most important projects eVer undertaken by the organization and that it will make a significant positive difference in the SUccess and lives of both current and future flexographers. The detailed marketing pian to expedite awareness of the various programs was also a veIY strong contributing factor influencing our offer to strongly support the cause. We were especially enamored with the concept of the FFTA Virtual Print Campus, acces- sible to converters, suppliers, teachers and students globally, providing an opportunity to learn the process and to keep up with the latest technology in real time. The idea of standardizing cuniculum and the learning process, plus offering an accredi- tation program for instructorsfteachers is indeed a significant step toward enhancing the skills of current employees and upgrading the skiII level of students. In addition, we were extremely impressed with the dynamic team FFTA has assigned to plan and implement the agenda. We were especially pleased to hear that Joe Thccitto will focus his full time efforts on the TEST program. He is quite creative and has an incredible ability to organize his materials, to teach and to inspire. The two of us have been privileged to have been a part of this vibrant, energetic and gen- erous industry since 1962, and through Halper Corporation since 1971. We have also been blessed with owning and operating two other successful bUsinesses during the past 30 years: Harpex/Love Adhesives Corp. and Harper MachineIY Corp, the latter having been sold in 1989. We believe that the key to any successful endeavor-and a happy life-is education. That is why we choose to support education in an industly that has been so good to us and to an as- sociation that has been one of the primary resources for our education during the past 45 years. We applaud the vision and determination of Mark Cisternino and the FFTA for develop- ing this program. We believe that the potential for rapid dissemination of infonnation, as envisioned in the TEST business plan, can make an unbelievable difference in the future global quality and growth of the flexographic process.
