Omet Celebrates 50 Years of Passion & Excellence Lecco, ItaLy — More than 300 people were guests of Omet, May10-12, for celebrations of its 50th anniversa- ry. Among them were customers from all over the world, national and international journalists, agents, suppliers, collaborators and local authorities. Official presentation of the monograph of Omet “50 Years of Passion and Excellence took place at the Villa Cipressi in Varenna, Lecco, on the afternoon of Friday, May 10. Then, on Saturday, OMET welcomed customers from all five continents, journalists writing for both the printing and tissue industries, business partners who sponsored the event; and the sales force present in the foreign branches and agencies all over the world. Antonio Bartesaghi, managing director of OMET and Marco Calcagni, sales director, explored the path of 50 years of passion and challenges and laid the founda- tions of a bright future. They explained that the com- pany ’s mantra is “Pure in innovation, simple in sophisti- cation. ” Bartesaghi remarked, “This event is not only an occasion to celebrate Omet’s 50 years but its role in the market, its capacity to grow, go ahead of time and reach important goals. “ After a demonstra- tion on the new XFlex X6, equipped with offset sleeves, the group moved to Lecco harbor to continue on the most relaxed part of the day: a boat trip from Lecco to Bellagio with a sightsee- ing tour of the village, and from Bellagio to Como. The day ended with a gala dinner at beautiful Villa Olmo in Como. A social event was scheduled for the next day includ- ing visits to Villa Carlotta in Tremezzo and a lunch in the town of Menaggio. Thanks to the enchanting atmosphere of the lake and the beautiful sun which begun to shine on Friday after- noon, the three-day event marked the strengthening of existing collaboration, reinforced old friendships, excited and entertained. Anderson & Vreeland Acquires The Provident Group BRyaN, oH — Anderson & Vreeland announced the acquisition of The Provident Group, a leading manufac- turer and distributor of doctor blades, end seals and inno- vative solutions for the flexographic printing industry. The acquisition is part of Anderson & Vreeland’s o -going effort to provide continuous improvement in product offering, service and support for its North American customers. “Provident Group’s technical expertise and patented innovation in the doctor blade and end seal field allows us to better serve customers throughout North America in one bold move,” noted Howard Vreeland, Jr. , chairman of the board for Anderson & Vreeland, Inc. “Our customers will benefit from an expanded manufacturing footprint, talent pool and knowledge base,” added Vreeland. The Provident Group was founded by industry veter- ans Mark Van Denend and David Allen in 1996 and spe- cialized in developing innovative solutions for package and label printers. The company owns numerous patents that improve doctor blade and end seal performance, including Chamber Wrap, an innovation that protects the doctor blade chamber from ink build-up, greatly reduc- ing clean-up time and solvent usage. “Anderson & Vreeland’s acquisition of The Provident Group represents a win/win for both our organizations, and more importantly for our customers,” noted Allen. “ We will continue to develop new and improved solu- tions for label and package printers backed by the finest technical support.” The Provident Group will operate independently as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Anderson & Vreeland, Inc. The company has 16 employees and a manufacturing and sales/warehouse facility in Englewood, CO. Allen will remain with the company in charge of sales and Van Denend will serve in a consulting capacity and continue to develop innovations for the pressroom. King Returns to Harper cHaRLotte, Nc — Global anilox roll supplier Harper Corporation of America recently reported that Robbie King has accepted the position of narrow web national sales manager. King has accrued 33 years of experience in the printing and packaging industry, starting his career in 1980. King’s first job in the industry was as a folding carton press operator at International Paper Co. He then moved on to serve as a press operator, pressroom supervisor, and production manager at WS Packaging, where he worked for 13 years. For over 14 years, King contributed to the success achieved by the Harper Corporation team as a graphics specialist and southeast technical account manager.
