FLEXO Magazine : September 2013
Industry Indicators Record-Breaking Event Labelexpo Europe casts Vast Footprint and Global impact The superlative used in Labelexpo Europe’s slogan may be “greatest”—“ T he greatest label show on Earth!”— but there is another adjective just as appropriate this year: “Largest,” because the 2013 expo, slated for Sept. 24-27 at Brussels Expo, is tracking to break every record set two years ago: • More than 30,000 attendees, versus 2011’s 28,636 visitors • An increase in countries represented, compared to the 123 that attended in 2011 • New and returning exhibitors, more than 2011’s 550 • A seventh exhibition hall, besting 2011’s six halls • A footprint of 31,500 square meters (101,500 sq. ft.), up from 2011’s 29,670 square meters (95,144 sq. ft.) “Labelexpo Europe 2013 is set again to be the best place to see the latest professional technology products, ancillaries and business development tools for the label and package printing industry,” said Lisa Milburn, managing director for the Labelexpo Global Series. “ With solutions on show for every area of business from industrial to food and beverages through to pharmaceutical and personal care, there is nowhere better to source new technology, improve your supply chain manage- ment or learn about maximizing value added services that will help keep your business ahead of the competition. ” Naturally, FTA members and their subsidiaries will be in full force at Labelexpo Europe, with roughly 100 of them exhibiting. Many of those in attendance will be debuting brand-new prod- ucts as well as add-ons to existing equipment. For information on what to expect from some FTA members and subsidiaries at the expo, take a look at the preview on pages 68-77. There are also a handful of presentations, demonstrations and workshops on tap to glean plenty of insightful informa- tion from. On day two of the expo, Sept. 25, Kodak, MPS and Repro- flex 3 will be offering a series of live presentations in hall 11. The demonstrations, which will take place every 15 minutes, will combine Kodak prepress technologies, MPS’ press ef- ficiencies and Reproflex 3’s expertise to showcase a range of challenging print jobs in the personal care and household product sectors. The demos will print at 300 lpi sans spot color inks. Spectators will be able to take samples to check against proofs. Also on tap is a Package Printing Workshop and demon- stration prepared by Xeikon and Nuova GIDUE in hall 12. Xeikon will be printing a glass jar label and a carton carry pack to hold three jars. Spectators will be able to watch the press print in CMYK in one pass, sheet the web and feed it to a diecutting station. Finally, the printed cartons will be stacked. Nuova GIDUE will print a lid laminate for a pot and stand-up pouch on one of its presses, upgraded with digital flexo technology. Both demonstrations will be free.
