"Cal Poly is excited to be working with the FTA to offer the first seminar dedicat- ed to implementing FIRST into an orga- nization. This seminar will bring together some of the leading thinkers with some of the best practitioners using FIRST. The goal is to have a dialog with those who developed and those who use FIRST," said Malcom Keif, Cal Poly professor and seminar presenter. The two-day seminar will focus on what FIRST (Flexographic Image Reproduction Spec!fications and Tolerances) is, keys to implementing it, understand- ing and controlling variables and will even include a pressrun simulation uti- lizing core principles. The workshop is designed for individuals interested in implementing FIRST 4.0 in design, proof- ing, workflow, process ink QC, digital platemaking, flexographic printing, and process control. The enhanced FIRST 4.0 features: a new and improved user-friendly format; expanded cross references and index; improved workflows; updated best prac- tices and technical information; quick online references and electronic tools; and more. Aligning workflows and pro- cesses to FIRST principles is the core focus of FFT A's powerful new education initiative, TEST (Technical Education Services Team). Well-known and talented industry professionals, including Richard Black; All Printing Resources; Carl Cecil, Color Resolutions; Jean Jackson, Allison Systems Corporation; Dr. Malcolm Keif and Brian Lawler, Cal Poly; Mark Mazur, DuPont Imaging Technologies; Joe Tuccitto, FFTA; and Bill Whitfield, MPI Label Systems, will present the seminar.
