FLEXO Magazine : July 2008
Since 1920 EskoArtwork showed its capabilities in professional color for packaging and print- ing professionals, focusing on Equinox, a solution for extended gamut printing, and the Esko KaleidoScope color management platform. The new partnership with Sun Chemical adds further to EskoArtwork's expertise. By offering access to the Sun Chemical SmartColour ink database into EskoArtwork KaleidoScope color man- agement software, printers will produce color-accurate proofs without needing to fingerprint the press. EskoArtwork and its flexo partner DuPont demonstrated the new Cyrel Digital Imager (CDI) solutions for flexo sleeve imaging (CDI Advance Cantilever) and automated flexo platemak- ing (CDI Spark 4260 Auto). Sales of CDI imagers already exceeded expectations after the first week of drupa; by the end of the exhibition more than 70 new CDI orders were confirmed. FIFE The SE-45 TruWide sensor gives converters the ability to run multiple webs and a variety of materials without setup changes or sensor repositioning. Ultrasonic sensing nodes are active at all times throughout the entire width of the sensing area, eliminating the need to reposition the sensor between runs and optimizing web alignment in applica- tions with high instances of web width variations. FLINT GROUP Presenting in two booths-The Printing Inks Divisions, Flint Group Narrow Web and Flint Group Pigments Divisions; and Flint Group Flexographic Products and Day International-Flint Group focused on new ready-to-image photopolymer sleeves nyloflex ITR Thin and nyloflex ITR Classic. Nyloflex ITR sleeves are seamless printing forms inclusive LAMS layer ready for digital imaging were launched onto the market in April 2008. GIDUE The Xpannd, a hybrid flexojoffsetj silkscreen machine, featuring converting capabilities such as hot stamping, cold foil, embossing, die-cutting, is the answer to the needs for all-in-one-pass, in-line printing and maximum efficiency in short runs inside a fully standardized job flow. The second machine displayed was the UV flexo sleeve press Athena. It's available in a range from 530 to 730mm in widths for printing food packaging and shrink sleeves for the beverage and cosmetics sectors. Both machines are intelligent machines for full control on the machine operation and are equipped with high-end feedback instruments for accurate web inspection and perfect register monitoring through a complete set of cameras located on every print station. GRAYMILLS On display was the well-known "Quick Change" Dual Head Peristaltic Ink Pumps. The "Quick Change" peristaltic pump al- lows operators to change out pump heads without tools, using a simple quick-release pin. In addition to single head models, the "Quick Change" Dual Head Peristaltic Ink Pump combines two removable heads powered by a single motor.
