FQC Update Year End Progress Report Highlights New Projects, Progress By Jean Engelke The Flexo Quality Consortium (FQC) has been very active since its last update in September. We now have four active projects that are underway. Additionally, we are anticipating the completion of the Anilox Gauge R&R II project in time for a final report to be given at Forum 2014 in Baltimore, MD . HIGH RESOLUTION PROJECT The most recent project charter approved by the Executive Team is the High Resolution Project. Tapped to lead this very important and extensive project are Ann Michaud from 3M Corp. and Alexander James from Harper Corp. of America. There are already many volunteers for this project, as it is very relevant to the membership. The project has been split into two phases: • Phase 1 will define and develop a new target test image to evaluate the various attributes of high resolution print- ing and define new tests, methods and criteria required to generate the data • Phase 2 will then compare the impact of various technical approaches on high resolution printing based on output metrics in Phase 1 and report out what kind of end results can be anticipated and what process steps are neces- sary to achieve them FQC’S ACTIVITIES • Developments in near neutral post print project • Anilox gauge data collection and report progress • Expanded gamut & FIRST • Organizational shifts • High resolution project phases • Standards Working Group updates (page 40) 6 FLEXO DECEMBER 2013 www.flexography.org FTA TODAY
